Off to Italy next week - pretty excited! First up Venice for 3 days, then flying to Sicily to stay in Cefalu and Palermo for 5 nights, before making our way across the island to Catania for 3 nights.

Hearing Scicily is ridiculously hot, which should be a toughy - i struggled with the heat last week!

How was it? Planning on going to Cefalu next May looks good and somewhere a bit different. Let me know!

Brilliant!

It's quite touristy compared to other parts of Sicily, but I think for the better - especially if like me you spent a few days in the not-so-frequented places. Really stunning place, have some great photos which I'll post when I finally get around to it. There's literally something for everyone there. Me and my girlfriend spent 3 days but in truth I could have easily added another one onto that - possibly even two (if you're a big beach fan).

Sicily is so cool though, we flew into Palermo and made our way to Trapani which is a nice sleepy town - close to the most picturesque beach San Vito Lo Capo which is a must visit. Palermo itself is quite nice but you could explore both in 2 days each max.

Highly recommended all in all - the heat is searing and May would probably be a good time as there would be less crowds of tourists.

Off to Orlando this weekend my daughter want's to go to Universal studios it's about $240 for the day, anyone been is it worth it?
went to the one in LA last November. I would imagine they are the same. Good day out. Was it worth the money? Probably not but we did have fun. Do the Studio Tour, the Harry Potter ride is amazing (but a bit weird seeing grown adults walking round in full Hogwarts uniforms including wands) and The Walking Dead attraction scared the bejaysus out of me! I was mightily annoyed by having to pay to park additional to the exorbitant entrance fee.

Also if you can, catch one of the shows- it is worth it. We watched the Waterworld one - the stunts were brilliant and my husband went full fanboy when the main actor was a former pro wrestler he recognised. Had his pic taken with him and everything. Sad git!lollol

Took the family there last year. It was brilliant, kids loved it and so did I. Buy your tickets before you go. We bought tickets that allowed us to go to Universal, Aquatica and Seaworld as many times as we wanted for the two weeks that we were there. Went to Universal about 4 times. Spent a couple of evenings there as well, parking was half price and hardly any quese. Best trip was a boat ride on the Everglades watching wild crocs. You and your daughter will have a fantastic time. Enjoy.

While I'm here- has anybody been to Jamaica? Thinking of going in January.
Yes, went to Negril quite a while ago - luckily picked quite a small hotel rather than one of the all-inclusive party singles lifestyle resorts. Was fairly mellow and much preferred it to what I saw of the other tourist areas on any trips we made. I think some parts of Jamaica have gotten even more dodgy than they were in those days, though.

@roydo whats the name of that surfing beach in Cornwall just outside of Padstow ?.

Just getting ready to start the drive down now :(
Most of the bays around Padstow are more famiky beaches mate. They do a bit of surfing at Harlyn Bay and also Constanstine. Also at Polzeath across the river. Best place for surfing there us Watergate Bay about 5 miles south if Padstowe.
