So as a massive underdog we even played a higher line than Bayern Munich who are absolute juggernauts of the Bundesliga.

Good one Vinnie.
I don’t get some managers unwavering support of their philosophy when it’s clearly leading to relegation.

Fair play, it’s landed him a job at Bayern Munich, but cost Burnley their top flight status, in a season where staying up was very much more than achievable.

My concern is what precedent does that set for managers? Just roll over and let bigger clubs beat you now to get a top job? Bonkers if you ask me.

One of those mystery managers that has clubs queuing for him for reasons no one seems to quite understand.

A bit like Andre Villas Boas. No idea how he keeps landing at the clubs that he manages.

It is and isn't suprising all at the same time. Most decision makers simply don't do enough homework to make good choices. That should be no surprise to any Everton supporter whose watched Moshiri pick managers off the list in his jacket pocket that he wrote in crayon.

Blimey, just googled him, because I thought he'd gone off the radar a bit.

Just seen that he's now the new president of FC Porto, as he landslide defeated the current president who'd been in post for the last 42-years!

Very apt timing!

At least with Martinez he had a cup to show for it.

He's an articulate guy so he's probably managed to talk his way in. My guess is clubs look at certain applicants, see Arteta at Arsenal too, and view folk like Kompany as another Pep protege with potential. Slightly different routes (Arteta coached, Kompany managed) to the chair of a big job, of course.

Not just what, but who you know.

I can!

Its self preservation! Martinez got away with it for longer than he should of because to the common watcher he played 'attractive' football!

He's selling the dream without any real evidence of being able to produce it! The emperors new clothes if you may! I liken it to these business juggernauts on the apprentice, claiming they are CEO of a huge multi national conglomerate, when in reality they have shipped a couple of bags of well wrapped sweets out to there sister in who lives in Spain! Using buzzwords and ideologies that don't have any substance!

Micah Richards was on MOTD the other week claiming that the 'ideas' and 'style' and 'tactics' were spot on, but Kompany just didnt have the players to execute it!
The biggest red flag should be, if he doesn't have the players to execute it, why play like that?
