The Vincent Kompany amnesty thread

So what if he is a success there? His methods work when he has better players, could be an eye opener for our views on those we consider 'elite' coaches
His style of play and methods may work with better players because he certainly has a modus operandi, however can he manage the stars at Bayern?

Also, his lack of pragmatism at Burnley contributed to their demise. Did he have the players to try and be more robust? Perhaps not.

But he didn't have the flair players either, and it wasn't working, so why not even try to grind out some results, as three more wins would have been enough.

I can only see this being a huge failure.

This Burnley supporter ain't pleased

On the bright side, if they do get promoted next season then they might be able to have a manager for the 25/26 PL season that actually has some versatility and who doesn't sacrifice PL status for the "vision"

Who knows? Zidane and his massive ego walked through the door at Madrid with zero experience, cowed a bunch of equally massive egos and lifted three straight European Cups. Like that should ever happen.

I would say the odds are well in favor of your argument proving true, but footy is a weird game. If Kompany has one advantage, it's that he's unlikely to lose the dressing room. The older guys will tell the kids that this guy gets it.

If he's respectful to them and has even half a clue about what he's talking about, then the players will likely fall in line

When you're a successful player then I think other players are more inclined to give you the benefit of the doubt at first, so you just need to gas up their ego's and know what you're talking about

It's why Ancelotti is so successful. He's clearly tactically astute, but he also knows how to talk to people and manage ego's. Plus, he's had success as both a player and a manager, so players can feel like he's on the level as a fellow pro

I think he will be a succes there, at least in the short term. Not sure how hard it is to manage a team with the most resources and best players in the league by a distance. Far harder to build something
