What? Hahahaha no. Stop comparing us with the top 6 at once.
No let's aim to come 8th. That's a good target to aim for. If we do really well we could come 7th. And this is exactly my point. I'm not comparing us to the top 6 and saying we are like them. I am saying we should be aiming to get there and modelling what they do. Why shouldn't we aim for that? I want more Everton fans who want to aim high and less who want to just get by!

Mate, with all due respect, we aren't competing with those teams, not even close.

Burnley, West Ham, Leicester, Watford, Palace.... Depressingly, that's who were rivalling for 7th spot.

There's quality outside the top 6 teams in the league. Who have Spurs signed in the last 5 years that would walk into top 4 teams? Leicester is always the pipe dream.

I think it's about mentality and quality. A positive mentality can make good players great. We're a million miles away.
Yes I agree we aren't competing with those teams but we weren't far off not long ago. We have gone backwards. My point is that we need to be making decisions that move us into a position so that we are competing with the top six. Most of our decisions in the last few years have moved us in the wrong direction. I think Sam Alladyce is an example of a decision that takes us in the wrong direction. And I'm not sure that Walcott is a good idea. He maybe but if he doesn't get Arsenals team and they(in my opinion) are at the bottom of the top 6, then I'm not sure he is going to be worth it. If we get him then I will get behind him as I always will but I do have my doubts.

You basically said that because he wouldn't get in any top 6 side that he shouldn't be good enough for us. But we're nowhere near a top 6 side and won't become one overnight, and he is more than good enough to walk in our current side and improve upon what we've got.

There’s a difference between aiming high and getting by though.

You have to be realistic. And we are miles away currently.

yes I take your point about signing him and improving us and then taking a step forward. And if we sign him this maybe the case. However, he is going to cost $20mil, I would say he is injury prone and he will be playing with Big Sam tactics, so will be chasing long balls all day. I'm not totally against getting him. He does have some good points, for example, his speed and he can score but I'm just not convinced. If we sign him and he turns out to be a good buy for us (and I hope this is the case) then I will be the first one to put my hand up and admit I was wrong.

Could people please stop saying we have "cover" in wide areas when the players you are referring to are both 20 and have a combined 1 PL goal between them. They aren't ready for playing every week.

Ta.

I do find it amusing that Vlasic is hailed as this Croatian Messi because he ran past a few Arsenal players into blind alleys and we lost 5.2.

No entirely true, it's more down to pace and quality in the final 3rd. If you watched the Spurs game in the first half we had put some pressure on them in the final 3rd, Tosun bringing players in and we got 3/4 players in the box.

The problem is that those players where Siggurdson and Bolasie who are a mixture of lacking pace, consistency, or quality.

Walcott is more effective than both those players in those areas. It's an actual threat.
