If we get a left back soon i'll be ok with this I think.

He's not amazing or anything, but he's certainly better than what we've been playing recently. I've seen him have a shot recently too. So that will be nice.

In fairness, if we get a striker (Tosun) a quick winger (Walcott) and a left-back this window, whilst clearing some of the deadwood (relatively newly-accumulated deadwood or old) in the meantime, it'll have been a good window, in the main.

We need to win some actual matches as well, like.

I'm still just about on the fence with this one, slightly coming down on the side of it being a good thing. Something just tells me he'll be good for us though. He's an improvement on Mirallas and Bolasie. We have Vlasic and Lookman in the ranks, so it's not a squad full of ageing players. He will be ready to make an impact immediately. People complained about Tosun being a risk because he was from the Turkish league. Walcott is no risk on that front.

The reason I'm unsure is his desire. All the talk I hear from Arse fans is of a player who has just given up a bit. If true, it should be a no. Hopefully they're signing him because they've been convinced that he still wants to improve and has targets to meet.

"What are Leroy Fer and Vadis Ofoe doing here Sam?"

If only we could have found a flat with a big enough balcony, what could have been.

and yet still plenty to moan and whinge about. An Evertonian will always find something no matter how pathetic. Why wasn't alldyce there, why wasn't Moshiri there, we could have given him a better quality pen to sign with, the paper was only 80gsm, the table was from Ikea.
Isn't there an Oak Furniture Land in Speke? Mosh out.

Ok lets reassess....

Point 1) he (as director of football which is his remit) hasn't identified the multiple holes in the squad which every football watching fan can see. (nothing about financial or level of players).

point 2) He is failing what a traditional director of football should be doing ie, shaping the way the squad is, building for a future so the over reliance on a specific manager isnt so severe - failing, easy to acknowledge considering our manager search followed now similar path (direct football manager, to a passing manager to a pressing manager). so if thats his remit - yes he is failing - if its not his remit the club need to assess job titles.

Point 3) Jobs for the boys, Sam was his man - he pushed for his recruitment. nothing about money level of players or anything there....

So no, nothing about level of players, financial of the players or anything except stating why I think he is failing at his job......

You ask the question I answered, and got a weird reply which had nothing to do with my answer.

Have fun, much love x

Point 1 - How do you know he hasn't identified players? Do you have access to his emails?

Point 2 - Again, how do you know what his performance agreement is, and in terms of the building of the squad, I addressed this in my original point. He has clearly identified and signed a number of younger, potential players, and the manager refused to play them. Is it the director of footballs job to pick the team and tactics? If so, that is not what I would consider to be the "traditional" role, as you suggest.

Point 3 - Surely, a working relationship between a Manager and DoF is a positive, and not the negative you hint towards by stating that it was in fact some form of nepotism that got Allardyce the job, and not his track record and our complete and overwhelming panic as we floundered to the foot of the table.

In my mind, his role is to oversee, he has identified players, he has ensured, in his role, that the players identified by the manager and his scouting team have been signed. Other than Giroud and possibly Van Dijk (if rumours are to be believed), I can't think of another player we actively tried to sign and didnt.

I wouldn't say my reply was any weirder than yours, and you didn't really, and still haven't, actually answered my questions.

Take care. Hugs.
