For the money being paid it's relatively low risk and he's certainly better than what we have. He's 29 soon and still hasn't kicked on to the level everybody expected when he first burst on to the scene but with the World Cup coming up and a fresh start there is no better chance for him to get himself back in contention.

League wise he's only hit double figures twice in his career but I think here there is going to be more of a focus on him here and as seen with Chamberlain it seems Wenger has gone stale when it comes to getting the best from his players.

Have to laugh at all the "we can't buy short term for these fees" nonsense. You cannot buy only long term players. We have a lot of young players playing for us right now. Pickford, Kenny, DCL, Davies and Lookman. You need a blend of older/younger players. We are investing heavily in our future, but you need seasoned players to help them along.

Good technique you say :coffee:

that must be league stats?

He's scored 108 goals in 314 appearances all in all, I think...
Yeah, and its also skewed by his early seasons. He played a number of seasons in the league before he even turned 21, and scored 23 goals in 160 appearances. After that season he then scored 90 in 262.

Stats wise, since turning 21 he has a goal or assist ever 108 minutes.

I’d like to see him through the middle with Tosun and Gylfi playing just behind them. Would be a real handful for any team.
