If only we could have found a flat with a big enough balcony, what could have been.

We've got the top floor of the Liver Building now

He is 29 in 6 weeks time.

I'd be happy with a loan but this is £50m in wages+fee.

How does he fit in with the ambitions of a club aiming for the top?

Short termism kills clubs.

Actually, that’s not true at all. Having the means to go for short term fixes is often what sets successfull clubs apart. van Persie was 29 when Utd bought him. It was short term, but his goals won them the league.
It’s the incessant long term perspective that kills club imho, or at least keeps them unsuccessful. You see plenty of clubs, Everton included, harping on about planning for the future with elaborate youth policies and restrictions on wages, fees etc. Problem is that if you’re always planning for tomorrow you’re never good enough for the present.

And when those youth players evolve in to consistently high performing talents, other clubs buy them from us. E.g. Lukaku, Stones, Barkley.

Point 1 - How do you know he hasn't identified players? Do you have access to his emails?

Point 2 - Again, how do you know what his performance agreement is, and in terms of the building of the squad, I addressed this in my original point. He has clearly identified and signed a number of younger, potential players, and the manager refused to play them. Is it the director of footballs job to pick the team and tactics? If so, that is not what I would consider to be the "traditional" role, as you suggest.

Point 3 - Surely, a working relationship between a Manager and DoF is a positive, and not the negative you hint towards by stating that it was in fact some form of nepotism that got Allardyce the job, and not his track record and our complete and overwhelming panic as we floundered to the foot of the table.

In my mind, his role is to oversee, he has identified players, he has ensured, in his role, that the players identified by the manager and his scouting team have been signed. Other than Giroud and possibly Van Dijk (if rumours are to be believed), I can't think of another player we actively tried to sign and didnt.

I wouldn't say my reply was any weirder than yours, and you didn't really, and still haven't, actually answered my questions.

Take care. Hugs.

This is his 4th transfer window isnt it? to not have brought in a left back by now is near on embarrassing.

I dont, but if you look at the traditional roles and responsibilities of a Director of Football - you'll see he is failing. Nothing to do with tactics or team, thats nothing to do with director of football so dont know why thats being suggested.

Yeah it probably is positive, but the fact we went after multiple managers which dont follow the same philosophy suggests that the traditional DoF role of ensure the club endures regardless of a manager isnt being implemented.

So, in your mind (opinion) his role is head of recruitment........ sound I agree with that, because what he is doing is nothing like a DoF works like.

So you claim that I suggested about signing world class players, and complaining about their fee's when I said nothing of the sort. That is odd.

anyway, arsed carrying this on, you suggested he is head of recruitment, I probably agree with that so the club needs to assess how it gives out job titles.

Massive improvement on what we have, just because he's not good enough for Arsenal, doesn't mean he's not good enough for us. 28 isn't old, btw

I think some blues need to wake up, who the hell are we supposed to get instead who ticks all the boxes for a winger? Some Carlos Kickaball from Spain or Germany who looks good on Youtube but is turbo gash for us? Because that worked out boss with Sandro, didn't it?
