1 player wont make us challenge, but 3 players, at Silvas level will.

But hey, lets just play Mickey Kegs and swerve the World Class players.

Who are the other two? Remember they have to probably come in this summer if you're going to catch Silva while he is still "world class" and even then you might be too late.

It did though. The everton twitter followers went up and Wayne's massive number of followers were exposed to everton.

You might find twitter follower stats laughable but it's becoming a big deal with football brands in 2020. Online presence is of huge significance.
I only care if it find its way into the pocketbook that eventually finds its way into the first team squad. And given our recent shirt deal, that didn't happen.

Signing World Class players = Doesnt improve us
Signing Latvian 16 year olds = Wins us the lot
For the record I've always stated I just wouldn't sign old players. The extremely young players is Zat's thing more than mine. I don't have a problem with like James for the right money or even Allan if it isn't 30m+. But 35 going on 36 is different from that.

Whatever this is getting confusing so let me sum it up: Signing Silva doesn't take us up a level just like signing Rooney didn't take us up a level and signing Ancelotti hasn't immediately taken us up a level (we might do if he wins stuff for us, but it is the winning that matters there, not who did it). Yes people might notice, but it isn't changing their opinion of us as a club. It isn't changing agents or players opinions when we make offers. And it isn't changing the opinions of fans who might catch on and build us as a club brand. I don't really care too much about the last part but it does lead to more money and that can make a difference for the on the field part.

So when I replied to the original post saying that we should sign Silva because it'll help us with recognition like Rooney and Carlo did, this is why I don't think that matters at all.
You don't care about what part. Gettin into Europe or maybe a cup final..
What do you care about then.
We aint goin to suddenly becoming a champions league side. But we need to progress and that is the next achievable step.

Im not normally a fan of older players, but players like Zlatan and Silva you make exceptions.

Hence why signing better players will do that. We lost on pens to Leicester in a quarter final this season. If we won that a very good chance we make the final. Not a huge improvement needed there.
We had a very good chance to lose to Man City at Wembley. That's assuming we even got through Villa, which a Leicester side that has been better than us most of the year did not.

In all honesty not that close.

I vehemently argued that signing Zlatan would be a bad thing because it would hamper Richarlison and DCL who were just finding form. Is there any question about that now?

I said make a cup final. Winning it needs a bit of luck. If you watched the Leicester villa games Leicester were way better over 2 legs but villa got the luck required.
You talk as if we are way off top 6 or 7. We ain't. But stick to that narrative.

I'm also not talking about this like my goal is to finish 6th or 7th. If that's the peak of what you want to do then I'd say Silva is right up your alley.

I said it takes time to progress. 6th or 7th next season and then progress further. At least read what some posts before replying.
Have said before you really are the most arrogant poster on here. You believe you are right about everything.

I know what you said but answer me this: where do we end up at the end of Silva's two year deal? Say we finish 7th and then 6th. How do we go from there to higher if one of the players we are relying on has to then retire?

I just think it makes it really hard to consistently improve when you are signing Silva or Allan and as soon as you improve a little you are stuck maintaining what you've gotten.

I'm not trying to come off arrogant at all, but you keep mentioning 6th or 7th like that is an achievement and I just don't really care about finishing there. I'd rather we finished twelfth and showed signs of improvement throughout the team, sort of like we are now, and built on that year on year regardless of league position until we have a core of guys who are in that 23-28 range that will have three or four years to really push for the top four or so. And maybe a cup too.
