This nurse Letby case

It's clear the jury were split on this case. They couldn't reach a unanimous verdict and were instructed to come to a majority verdict. Jury members 'visibly upset' about the verdict reports say.

That verdict will be appealed, no doubt about that.

Hard to get the head around any of this, that rambling letter she wrote to herself full of self-loathing and juts bizarre statements. Its all just so awful, its really hard to comprehend the situation.
Because you're a normal human being, and such deplorable actions are way beyond your comprehension and that of most of the population.

Murdering seven children, who are in your care and who you've sworn an oath to protect, is not the actions of the absolute majority of people.

Therefore, most people will find it hard to understand, and rightly so. @davek there were deliberations on the attempted murder of other children.

She will definitely appeal, there is no reason for her not to, but being cleared of any of these convictions is unlikely, let alone all of them. She'll die in prison.

The general attitudes towards patients especially in mental health facilities is shocking. Institutionalised to the point of being able to reversing the training of newly qualified nurses.
Just working with some one now who when you wrote the above was wondering what the hell had happened to their life. They had voluntary went to NHS hospital to start medication which required careful blood test monitoring, anyway they changed their mind and rightly so, the ward only threatened them with a section 3 if they tried to leave, the person sat terrified stuck on a locked ward for the whole weekend until they could reach out to us and get them out, complaint has begun etc.

The trauma for jurors or police investigators but also be tremendous for something like this.

She also refused to come out of the cells, adding more pain and misery to the babies families.

I‘m not pro hanging, but I’d make an exception.

That forced apology from seven doctors/consultants to her is odd, that all the hospital execs that backed Letby in that issue were then moved on from that hospital very quickly is also odd looking. The longest murder trial in British legal history. Those poor babies, those poor devastated families, and the staff on the periphery that've been dragged through this process to get to this point. No idea what safeguarding improvements could be factored in. This'll rumble on for years. Very sad.

Thats the way the NHS operates.

It’s very rare for a higher up to get the sack. They get moved sideways or are allowed to retire.
