TIM HOWARD THOUGH

Add that to the other great mysteries of last season, including leaving Mirallas on the bench since New Years, playing Baines at centre mid without telling him and putting Lukaku on the wing, amongst others lol
Im not sure the Mirallas thing is such a mystery. Obviously been a fall out over him wanting to leave. The Baines and Lukaku calls were bizzare though. Just saying that the manger clearly lacks faith in Robles. Least that one makes sense.;)

Apart from the three games last year, id say its a fair comment tbh mate. Whenever he's made a cup apperance we've looked the worse for it imo. Look all im saying Is that if Martínez keeps picking Howard then it must be down to the manger not bealieving in Robbles. Why else wouldnt he play him?
I just feel it's unfair to criticise when he only plays once in a blue moon..... impossible to perform at the highest level like that.

Unlike Robles who has been consistantly crap since he joined. Oh i almost forget his crowning glory moment! He had three 'okish' games last season!....... Ill just wait for the applause to die down.

Howard was so bad that one clean sheet started to be seen as 'okish' three in a row was like finding water in the desert. Shouldn't be like that but it's Howard's fault it was.

You have to do enough in traning though and its obvious that Robles hasnt done enough to convince Martínez that even with Howard having a nightmare that he was good enough. If the lad gets a game ill be the first to support him despite my doubts but i honestly dont bealieve he's the answer to our problems.

It's utterly ridiculous that we have 2 crap goalies and we are supposed to be aiming at the top 6. What team ever succeeded with a poor goalkeeper? Martinez should sort it out or he'll be gone by Christmas.

We could of left out a goalkeepr all together vs West Brom and it wouldnt of made any diffrance. To me it feels like were arguing over wether if Robles on his best day is better then Howard on his worst!

Why does he play Barry or even sub him when he has a stinker we looked better when Barry was suspended, and our results were better- all this crap of RM does not rate Robles see below -
You are looking in every line of the team, Martinez told Everton TV. ‘In goal we are strong. Joel Robles showed this season that he is a keeper with a lot of potential and we are privileged to have Tim Howard.

So it looks like no Keeper is needed next season really?????
Keep the faith!

Tim Howard had a terrible season and is now a year older, and Robles shakes like a leaf. It's like having Richard Wright and Ian Turner all over again, pathetic!

All this discussion could've been skipped if Robles had kept his place, as he should have done.

Howard would be benched or out the door and this discussion would not be happening.

Robles is 23, we need to see if he is up to the job long term, and the only way to do that is to play him, obviously.

That's just a fans perspective though. The manager and coaches will obviously have closer knowledge and more experience to judge him and clearly the verdict is he's not as good as or even better than an under par Howard.

Some goalkeepers make careers out of being number 2's. Players like Steve Harper or Stuart Taylor for instance who have long careers but do nothing but train and sit on the bench. They could make it a division or two below but they don't cause problems, train well enough and just accept their position.

Looks like Robles is one of those types really. Just look at his career stats he's 25 and hasn't passed 30 top flight apperances even though he's been at 4 different clubs.

Sorry Doug but that's just plain common sense - would you drop a striker who has scored a goal for three games on the bounce????
Ruddy was a no 2 DM sent him packing to Scotland. England call up - now back in the prem great keeper - you cannot persist in playing has beens ,and I am not just picking on TH - Barry comes under that category too imo every manager will play favourites, and that may cost him his job -
Robles should have had is run after three clean sheets as TH return early on cost us points the Leicester home game anyone could see other than our Manager TH had a mare of a game - By now if Robles had a run we would all know if he was up to it or not -
Just reading Colin Harvey s autobiography Doug, he had a very bad game v West Brom home and thought that's it in the reserves again Manager Harry Catterick who was a big fan of Harvey sent him to play in the A team the following week without a conversation!
The CAT was a very ruthless Manager who took no names - He heard one winger in Alex scot bragging on having a great game, and dropped him so he would try harder, and it worked - RM has to stop this Mr Nice Guy attitude, and be more ruthless with our older established players and TH is deffo one of them!

We all know that TH will be picked and picked again and again unless injured. Robles will never play but sit on the bench.

Joey, for me RM can't hold a candle to Harry.

Utd with Fabian Barthez. Average goalkeeper at best. Sure he had his 'moments' but by and large he was quite average.
