TIM HOWARD THOUGH

Nice one for moving him back, i wanted to see what it would look like but don't have the photoshop skills (or however you did it).

95% of the goal isn't free? He's covering the near post(as he should from the way the ball was crossed) but he's not too close, he's able to dive and cover most of the other side of the goal but it's humanly impossible to cover all of it.

The ball is this side of the near post so if Pelle is gonna score at the far post there it's gonna have to be low and hard (or high and looping) and right in the corner, like i said, no keeper would be able to save that, but most shots across him he would be able to dive across and save them.

By being a couple of yards further out he narrows the angle and increases the chances of blocking the ball but gives himself less reaction time to dive. It's probably 50/50 as to which position is better, they both have positives and negatives, i prefer him standing at the X, you might prefer him in his actual position.

But having said all that, in your position he got lobbed and had to show outstanding athleticism to dive back and save it. In my position he simply catches it.

I just cannot see how he can be lobbed at his near post from 6 yards out and be in the right place. You just don't see that happening and for good reason.
all fair points, I just think if he stays closer to his line he gives Pelle more chance to go far. The defense was all over the place so he came to close the player down. I think it's an 'agree to disagree' thing.

Quite a few angles of it there although it would be nice to have seen one from behind the goal or directly above.

But yeah, probably best to agree to disagree (y)

Are we to get rid based on last season then ?
Yes, and based on his Everton career overall. He is CRAP.

Been poor for a couple of seasons in a row with the possible exception of 13/14. Last year was just so bad everyone started to notice. Him and Distin had been undermining us for years, turning wins into draws because neither could concentrate for a full 90 mins.
Spot on

So it wasn't a couple of seasons in a row then.

If you honestly think Howard and Distin have been poor for us for years then there really is no conversation here. That my friend is just utter bollocks. If we're to go by your comments here, you're a fine example of a fan that watches a players previous season and bases their entire career off it. Last season is a complete and utter write off from pretty much the entire squad. We could go through the whole team really truth be told.

If Howard and Distin had been so poor for so long how come 3 of the last 4 seasons we've conceded the third least amount of goals in the league?

Are you saying Baines, Jags, Coleman and Neville really been that outstanding? and that they've managed to cover for so long with two players playing so poorly and it's only just showing?
