TIM HOWARD THOUGH

Totally agree.

Was just trying to voice my opinion that he is capable of astonishing good and bad. Thankfully he's done more good than bad in his time here...this season being the biggest exception for the bad.

I think we are agreeing to agree here.

We still have to make up our minds what to do with him ffs

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY above my pay grade mate.

Perhaps the American in me can't be totally objective. He is world class on his day...what is the opposite of that? He has that in him too.

He remains a top class shot stopper but the rest of his game, positioning, distribution, box domination is just not good enough anymore

Sadly his "shot stopper days" like yesterday are now few and far between.
Every player eventually comes to the end of his shelf life.
The longer he stays the poor games will will far outway the good ones.
We have witnessed this more & more this season. Times up Tim.

'Hes a good shot stopper'. Surely EVERY keeper is a good shot stopper otherwise they quite clearly wouldn't be doing their job properly.

Yes, he had a good game on Saturday but thats the only good game he's had this season and ive lost count the amount of point he's cost us this season, he needs replacing in the Summer. Simple.

Excellent save today. Needs a couple of those to redeem himself.

This.

He was outstanding today.

Was single handedly responsible for at least two points today. Unfortunately, he's also been responsible for the loss of about ten.

Great save, good game, crap beard.

Great game from him. Now if he can keep that up

Keep this up Howie.

TH did very well today got to admit it came of his line Three times ffs , why has he not been doing that all season maybe Dougs had a chat with him and give him that video!lol

HOWIE YOU EFFING SEX MACHINE

Nice one Tim, great game for him.

That's our Tim. Capable of moments of brilliance...and moments of madness.

Well done Tim. Quality save first half and actually came put and punched a couple. Still crap like but 45 games on the spin like today and I will forgive your poor form for 75% of the season.

Can't believe my eyes.

Played brilliantly.

He was alright today, did whats expected and made a few decent stops.

He was good today.

Some great saves today and about time.
Still needs to go in the summer though

He didn't have much to do no, but he made a lot of good punches and a world class save. Compared to the rest of his season that's out of this world amazing stuff.

Give him credit, saved the team's nuts today as there seemed to be little prospect of the upfront lot scoring.

He's not good enough any more & he's had a lot of deserved stick this season but he had a good game today

He was good today but I don't think he's the answer going forward. Thank him for his loyal service and move him on. Robles showed me more this season in the few matches he played in than Howard did all season.

Fair play yesterday. Needs a run of games like that though.

No you're right @joey_macmo he didn't get any credit.

Jesus wept.

Jagielka heads it on the edge of the 6 and it's curling away from goal, no players in the way, it was there for Howard to grab.

It's not a huge deal really, keepers let those go all the time. But if Jagielka's clearance had fallen to a Southampton player who drilled it in the net, Djemba-Djemba and others on here would be furiously stroking off over how badly Howard messed it up. But that didn't happen, so Howard gets a pass. My only point in posting it was to show that the GOT anti-Howard brigade seems to have a very poor understand of the game, and only base their impressions of player performance on final results.

It may seem weird to post a gif of Howard's mistake as a way to go after Howard's critics, I'm merely trying to point out that their framework for evaluating his performances is blatantly limited and heavily biased by the final score of the game. It's the same reason we keep hearing about Joel's 3 clean-sheets without any discussion of his flapping at the ball or the goal-line clearances from defenders that he relied on - Howard's critics only look at the scoreline without bothering to consider the context or actually evaluate his performance across 90 minutes.

The irony of an American, watching on the tele, telling me I have a poor understanding of "football" has made me giggle like a school girl.

If it's on the edge of the 6 yard box it's the keepers ball. If he doesn't come and take it he's either;

A) a shithouse
B) Crap

Either way he's no good.

He inspires terror in his own defense. I can't wait til he's out the side.

Not good enough. Regardless of how he played this weekend he has shown time and again that he's not up to being our number 1 next year. He has good matches, sure, but he's extremely inconsistent and you can tell the defense has lost faith in him. While he's not solely responsible for our atrocious season, he certainly hasn't helped. We'd be looking much better had we picked up the 10ish points he's lost us.

Get rid, get someone in that is at the very least basically competent.

Howard is a luxury keeper - which is a horrifying thing. He makes great saves every now and again and looks top notch, but he's just as likely to put in a Palace or Leicester horrorshow. To say nothing of the matches in which he's just simply below-average.

He is the worst thing in the history of humankind.
