Times article, Burnley/Leeds threaten to sue Everton

The amount of money we have written off due to COVID losses was always dubious, and it would have been ignorance on our part to think other clubs wouldn't raise their eyebrows about it. However, the sheer levels of scaremongering from the press is eye-opening but certainly not surprising. These prats couldn't even allow us one day to celebrate our survival.

The fact the media would have us believe that a resolution on this case could even happen before next season's fixtures are drawn is preposterous. The league have been investigating Man City for 3 years for alleged ffp breaches. There is no chance on earth that a resolution about our finances could be reached before next season starts, and probably not for a good while after that either. We'd then reserve the right to appeal any verdict and delay the process even further where we to be found guilty.

If you ever needed confirmation for just how infested the media is with kopites, look no further than this nonsense. They are absolutely devastated we survived.
Leeds and Burnley are supposedly asking the PL to set up an independent panel to make a judgement within 6 weeks.

What we have to be wary of is if the Government step in here and take control away from the PL. They highly politicised the Chelsea ownership situation and could, if it's politically expedient to do so, step into any claim against the PL and Everton. But that's the only way I see matters changing for the worse on this.

Government doesn't tend to interfere with Judicial cases as a separation of powers thing. They can legislate but wouldn't interfere actively with a court case. Plus there's no way it goes to court - it goes to an arbitrator ( not a Judge) with limited powers. That is if Burnley and Leeds to kick off against the league itself and it's application of the rules. I think they may ask the league to set up a "Commission ( which would have the greater powers like point deduction) but you'd imagine the league would reject the request. Then up to them to take aim at the Prem itself through appointing an independent Arbitrator which they can do, but I wonder would they bother.

IMO it's all about getting a relegation sweetener.
