Think he is having a good game against Spurs, lots of decent forward passes for players to run onto and working hard in defence. Not claiming he is the best midfielder in the world like but if he could replicate these past few performances for us he'd be a good free signing.

Tbh the whole Villa team look completely different under Sherwood - he's making a complete fool of me as I don't rate him much as a manger.
Hope he makes you know who look a fool next week

I dont think hes a bad Manager, hes certainly not good and is defo 100% a prize bellend, but he can gee up a team to his credit.

As for Cleverley, im actually warming to the idea, makes loads of sense considering that Gibson is basically goosed and Barry is certainly not getting younger, meh, I feel sick for admitting that.
Ha, I'm sure this is just a temporary illness and you'll be back to normal when he joins us and kicks the ball into touch the first ten times he has it :p

Have you read a direct quote from Martinez saying we are signing Cleverley?

I've not myself, and until then I'll reframe from chastising him on it to be honest.

You need to pick your Martinez arguments better as I've said you just come across like some drunken kid trying to fight after last orders with this wild and inappropriate swings.

Did I mention Cleverley in my post that you replied to?

Arguments? you mean Team selection, Tactics, Subbing, Press talk waffle, Other people on here have cited the same stuff but you seem to take pleasure in zoning in on me and not the others, why just me and not the rest?

Tell you what you present your arguments why RM should be our manager for the next decade, or why you think he should. Oh I forgot better have another one of these.:pint2:Hic'

Seems everyone has made their mind up on him. He's free & better than Alcaraz so we might as well get him in. We won't lose money on him but it's an underwhelming signing to say the least

Im fair!!!!

If/When he signs, he will honestly get my full support, everybody starts with a clean slate once they join, I had major doubts about McCarthy, he sat me down after his 2nd game, I had some doubts about McGeady, God hes tosh, Kone, I was willing to give a chance, but hes beyond hope, even little Atsu is still on the maybe list.

Its on young Tom to impress me.

This thread is about Cleverley stop rambling on incoherently and trying to crowbar in anti Martinez rhetoric into it, there's plenty of threads dedicated to Martinez for you to do that in.

Here are Villa fans comments about his game vs Spurs - apart from omitting some comments on his cost, haven't cherry picked any.

Im torn right now over this schmuk. Didnt want him to begin with, lived up to all expectation of being useless but now has begun to perform like a decent midfielder. Not sure if he will keep it up and play s big part in keeping us up but if he does and makes noises that he wants to stay and be a part of AVFC moving forward and TS can continue to get the best out of him then im all for the Free transfer

I'll take back everything I said about this guy. What a transformation.

Great workrate and what a turnaround from him. He's cemented his place in the starting 11. Never thought he would be good after how atrocious he was in the beginning. Keep it up!

superb again, really wonder what was Lambert doing?

This guy is a baller, simple as. The balance between him and Delph is fantastic.

Will be quite gutted if we dont sign him now. Was awesome today, has been in great form recently.

Sign this bloke!!

Sherwood has transformed this guy. Intensity has doubled, makes runs forward, sign him up

Would we still have to pay the 8 million fee?
No. He is out of contract in the summer, so sadly it may be down to wages.

I think he'll stay if he continues like this and gets responsibility from Sherwood as he has. He's won everyone over with his solid solid performances.

Would we still have to pay the 8 million fee?
I'm almost tempted because he does a job, its a lot of money but we know what we're getting.

Very good today, he has certainly responded positively to Sherwood's management.

Great energy and good distribution. Has really stepped up his game in the last few months, I guess he really wants that move to Everton eh...

I wouldn't go as far to say I'd be gutted if we didn't sign him, but he's being doing a lot better of late.
Even if he is on a free transfer, all that will happen is his wage demands will increase.

Player

Might be in with a chance of signing him up. He is becoming instrumental to the way we play.

I can't remember the last mistake he made in a game. He's ridiculously consistent and not in a dull way. He's contributing all over the pitch.

I'd have paid 7 mill for him in Jan based on current performanceS. Think he might go somewhere else in the summer now on a free which would be a shame

Paper talk has him going to us, Everton, Newcastle and Spurs. Cant see him going to Newcastle and I cant see Spurs giving him promises to play. Martinez is no doubt tapping him up behind the scenes but im hoping his best period of form since he played for Wigan is enough to convince him this is where he belongs. Along with an English core which he seems to get on with. Like others ive been critical and am quite happy to eat humble pie, hes gone from a sideways passing, attack ruining passenger to an absolute engine with cute attacking passes and great running off the ball. Worthy of England caps again on this form.
