So he's brilliant now is he?

Great, a wages bidding war over Tom Cleverley, what an exciting summer awaits

eh if you can someone who should be decent starting rotation player for no transfer fee its pretty good business. I've noticed he's been much better since Sherwood has opened things up there.

Martinez has had a good track record in respect to his central midfielder signings (Macca, Besic, last season's Barry), so if he sees something in Cleverley I'll give him my trust.

I'd like him here.. never wavered on that opinion either. Especially when he is on a free. Difficult to understand the fume on here when he is on a free and hasn't even played a game for us. Give him a chance, ffs. I think he could be a decent replacement for Osman.

agree mate. can't see what's wrong with giving him a shot on a free (unless he wants crazy wages) I think most people's fear is that'll he'll get penciled in as a starter wide left. I don't think he should be first 11 but as a rotation player on a free I think would be good for us

Exactly. A promising, young, homegrown squad player on a free. Surely we can conjure up worse things to fume about than this?

yeah theres more to fume about haha that being said like I mentioned in my last post I think alot of the fume is because people think/expect RM to start him frequently

The stats are not put into contxt of minutes played but even so they suggest Cleverley has been quite effective over the course of his season despite not playing well for the first half of it.

Even in the deeper role this season, he's matched up well enough with Everton's current midfielders. His 86% pass success is level with both Gareth Barry and James McCarthy, and just behind Muhamed Besic. He's also created 23 chances in 26 appearances, the same as Barry (11) and McCarthy (12) combined, while Bosnian Besic has managed just eight. In terms of getting his shots on target, he's also been better than all three this season.

On the back foot, he has won more tackles than Besic and McCarthy – with more success, too – and is just one behind Barry's total of 56 this season.

This type of win today can convince him to stay at villa and fall in love with the club so him coming to us is not 100% done yet. Villa could still win his signature.

The trouble is RM does not know when to play and not play these players....If we sign Cleverley as a squad player, then fair enough....wouldnt touch him with a barge pole tho.
