Too many similar players fighting for one or two positions would mean constant tinkering in the side week in week out and that means no chemistry which is exactly what we saw this entire season. One week Barkley on the wing, then at no 10. Naismith at no 10 then drifting oht wide. Lukaku up front or on the wings. It works on FIFA not in real football. If we sign Cleverly then Bobby needs to figure out which players are specific to what role. That was the main ingredient to his and our success in the first season. Delboy wasn't playing anywhere but wings, Barkley played only at no 10, Lukaku only played upfront and Mirallas only played on LW where he's most effective.

Apart from when Lukaku played RW, Mirallas played AM or RW and Barkley played DM like, yeah.

There are still times when I relapse and kick a poor person, but I'm truly a reformed person comrade.

looked a lot better under Sherwood; at the end of the day he's a tidy player, he's only young, injury free and wont cost a lot. i think he'll turn out to be a good signing and even if he isnt we'll just sell him for profit

This is the most important signing in Everton Football Club history. A dynamic player on the ball that makes teams tick. Exactly what we need to link the play up.

Amazed Man United have let him go so easily, as he could have been at the heart of their midfield for the next decade.
I'm not sure I'd go that far but perhaps he can make a difference to the way the team plays (also understands how Martinez works) and can do a good job for us.

I'm just not comfortable slating a player before they've kicked a ball in anger (in royal blue), like some of the cool kids are at the moment. If he's crap then ok, but let's see him in a blue shirt under a manager that motivates him and knows him first.

But why buy in the first place ? We have very little speed in the team now, he plays like a crab, Martinez is talking about starting the Season, hitting the ground running they don't come much slower than crisis Cleverley ffs.

He'll run all day for the cause, and will give his all. Put him alongside McCarthy and the pressing game in front of the back four will be immense. As they both cover so much ground, you could also drag one of them out to do a man-marking game on dangerous opponents, if needed.
Personally, I don't think he's a bad signing at all. I hope he's not the marquee signing of the window, but I certainly think hes a good, solid signing that will improve the team overall.
