Tom Cleverley

So was the question rhetorical about his value?
Personally I think if his confidence grows in the way it has been then he'll be as valuable as any English midfielder and we would be stupid to sell him. Not many midfielders are both versatile and classy.
He's showing that his touch is as good as anyone else we have on our books, passing is sharp and clever, his movement is excellent, his work off the ball is good, his tackling is clean and his finishing looks dangerous.
If that's not the standard we want then not sure what is.

No, it was a genuine question. How does his finishing look dangerous when he has scored just one goal in 17 appearances, and that was a header? If he's as valuable as any other English midfielder, then I guess you must value you him at about 25 million pound, at least?

Leicester's current position would offer quite considerable evidence otherwise, they are hardly a team with 11 world class players.

You got there before me.

Cleverley is a solid player with great work rate, I could easily see us winning something with him in the side. Not sure what people's problem is, who cares if he was a United scapegoat?

Think people maybe letting what they heard or read about Cleverley cloud their judgement and not how he has performed for us so far. Certainly not world class but a good work rate, eye for a pass and good set piece delivery.

Nice to see someone's got their head screwed on and doesn't start going over the top after we hit a bit of form.
Went hiding in the biggest game of the season vs City

Has suddenly found a bit of form against Newcastle (one of the leagues worst teams, for 30 mins) and Stoke (who have won 1 of their last 7 league games)

Looked about at the right level vs Carlisle

Unreal levels of knee jerking in here.
Oh you have been listening to Davek kneejerk, ha ha

He's hit posts and brought out some great saves despite largely playing deep. Looks to bring other players into the game rather than apply finishing touch himself so bearing that in mind his involvement in goals we have scored recently has been really impressive and will get better as his confidence grows.
As for value I think that can be related to many things including the style of player. But I'd say if he gets back to his best then we'd be looking at similar price to McCarthy

It's not tosh in the slightest, he's hit the nail on the head.

This forum is hilarious for going over the top about players as soon as they have something resembling a decent game.
The guy has played well and benefitted the team after a bad injury earlier in the season. What people on here are doing is not going over board we are standing up for a player who is being slated by clueless biffs

I'm sorry mate, but I don't think players that have scored a single headed goal in 17 appearances can be described as dangerous finishers, nor do I think they are valued at anything approaching 25 million. I get the impression that you may have fallen in love with him, and that you are drastically over rating him as a result.

Bang average player. Played well yesterday though, which is a good sign, and had a few good games at start of the season.
However everything he does, and every attribute he has is 4/10. Specialist in nothing. He is the new Osman. Can only ever be a squad player. He hides from the ball when he is playing poor. 4/10 in everything.
4/10 love it.

The more detailed posts in TC's favour tend to offer a number of bland characteristics that he possesses. eg. workrate, tidy, moves the ball quickly. My belief is that these qualities are not good enough for a starting player at Everton. He is apparantly the no 1 choice in that left hand spot at present, but that is more down to the other options available as opposed to him being a very good footballer.

Do you/anyone honestly believe that a fit, motivated Mirallas is inferior to Tom Cleverley?
Yes. He adds much more and brings out more in the players around him.
The qualities you mentioned are hardly bland. In fact they're pretty essential.

Not insulted at all mate. GOT would be a boring place if everyone agreed.

I've made my points in numerous posts on this thread about Tom Cleverley and what I perceive to be his limitations. The usual retorts to my posts are as vague as yours are. e.g If you can't see what he offers then you don't understand what makes a good footballer.

Yes
Tom Cleverley could say
let us compare medals
You are not very adroit in accepting an apology are you
What you have won is the litmus test.

I'm describing what's happening on the pitch rather than rattling off daft marks and stats with no context. When he's had chances to shoot he's shown accuracy and speed of delivery. All good signs that he'll get more.

And didn't j mac cost 13 mill?

And didn't j mac cost 13 mill?

Yes, but he isn't English, and he isn't worth 25 million either. You say you are describing what has happened on the pitch, but you aren't, you're describing a player who has scored one goal in 17 appearances as being a dangerous finisher. Such a description is actually in direct contrast to what is happening on the pitch.
