The well known condemnation "there is a player in there somewhere", previously earned by Sandro and another recent and already forgotten waste of space will be applied to Davies. Why? Because he is evidently not very good. Can we afford to play him regularly while we find out how good or poor he really is? That is up to Silva. The better the team gets the more likely his shortcomings will be exposed, is what I think.

If he was so highly rated, I'll ask again, why hasn't he been chosen for this current England squad? Why is practically every Evertonian at the match/in the pubs after the match, saying he is our weak link?

The reality is we play 10v11 most of the time with Davies on the field. Hes too slow in one-on-one situations, his passing is really poor leading to many turnovers, and he plays little defense considering the position hes supposed to be playing. He has no sense of urgency to get back when another team starts to get in a dangerous position, which puts more pressure on our defenders than there should be.
Gomes will slot in easily.
