2018/19 Tom Davies

Had a decent game at Leicester, played one or two strange passes - one which nearly led to Chilwell scoring - but he was looking a bit more aggressive out of possession and stood his own against one of the better midfields in the prem outside of the top 6. He seemed to have packed in firing overhit passes at teammates that are about 5 yards away from him.

If we move forward with that team we put out against Leicester his performances will improve although I’d expect Gomes to come in and take his place.

I think the thing is with Tom, he takes risks with forward passes, it would be much easier to just play it sideways all the time and never take a risk, never misplace a pass. Sometimes his forward passes are intercepted and we get a groan from the crowd. People need to chill, the lad has talent. The only thing is once Gomes is fit, he may not be first choice in his position anymore.

Agree, Rodwell got much more praise a couple of years into his career when he was playing things more safe than davies.

I'm happy to see a few supporters use the word support in here. That's exactly what we should be doing with Davies. Imagine seeing a scouse blue from the academy lifting a trophy. That won't happen if fans keep knocking him over the odd misplaced pass, he's got great potential imo.

Yes.

European Golden Boy... like it means anything. Wasn't Sandro on that list last year?

If he was so highly rated, I'll ask again, why hasn't he been chosen for this current England squad? Why is practically every Evertonian at the match/in the pubs after the match, saying he is our weak link?

He's lived off that Man City goal, which is coming up to two years ago now, for ages.

Thankfully Gomes is nearing full fitness, so we can't see him hit the ball out of play for the millionth time and/or pass the ball to one of our players to put them under immediate pressure.
Do you only speak to evertonians that you you know as that would speak volumes for your anomosity to the lad. I genuinely couldn’t put up with you in my company speaking so much drivel.

And of course some of the posters in here, as soon as he starts playing it sideways and backwards rather than trying some forwards movement would call him a “coward of a player “

Hahahahahaha, Davies scoring a hat-trick...

The reality is we play 10v11 most of the time with Davies on the field. Hes too slow in one-on-one situations, his passing is really poor leading to many turnovers, and he plays little defense considering the position hes supposed to be playing. He has no sense of urgency to get back when another team starts to get in a dangerous position, which puts more pressure on our defenders than there should be.

Gomes will slot in easily.

Well the thing is that’s not the reality and that’s a proper load of faecal matter you’ve just typed there isn’t it?

Haha, what a bizarre way to judge a player, Eden Hazard must be pretty poor in your opinion given the likes of Conte, Mourinio, Benitez etc who selected him and were subsequently sacked .
Yeah, because comparing Tom Davies and Eden Hazard is logical, and so is comparing: Conte, Mourinho and Benitez to: Koeman, Unsworth and Fat Sam:oops:

Have you ever been to a pub after an Everton game, sat on a table and then the group sitting next to your group on that table over hear and then join in the conversation with their opinion? I’m guessing not. Either that, or you arent going to Everton games and picking up on what fans, outside a hardened few on here, are saying about Tom Davies.

I’d guarantee that if you polled Evertonians on who should be dropped from the Xl, Davies would top the list. He’s crap. Maybe he can improve in the future, but tha certainly shouldn’t be on a supposedly ambitious Premier League club’s time.

I don't think he would be top at all.

Maybe some people need it spelt out to them first that dropping Davies meant playing Schneiderlein because Gomes was not fit. But I still don't think all everton fans want him dropped. Not even close. Unless you've polled the global support, or even the 37k home fans at Goodison on a match day?

But we won a game so can’t call for the manager’s head this week, someone has to get it and Tom is the convenient next in line whipping boy.

Who would you have dropped first before Davies in our Xl?

Tosun originally. Im very much looking forward to Coleman coming back. Thats far more important than Mina or Gomes. But given who was fit, I think the 11 who started on Saturday was clearly the correct set up. I like that side away from home.

It's a bit childish to constantly moan and scream for players to be dropped when the person you want to replace them is injured.

Gomes may well come in for Davies. I really hope he is on a different level to our current midfield options. But the lad hasn't played yet due to a pretty nasty injury and the boo boys will be out in force again unless Silva immediately chucks him in for the full 90 in the next game. And they'll all be delighted because they can abuse the manager too then. Double the fun for them.
