It's probably the hair

People are shallow

It’s just wanting to be right more than wanting to give a player a chance to fully develop. Doesn’t matter what happens in the future. Every time he plays well, after the initial seething rage has died down they’ll gather on here and tell each other they were still right anyway and they’ll feel better about themselves.

Utter utter nonsense.

He bossed the midfield last night, especially in the first half and really stepped up.

I`d love to see his stats from last night.
He didn’t at all. He was alright and nothing more.

He gets hyped up because he came through the academy and is from Liverpool. People need to take the blue-tinted specs off.

He’ll be in the Championship within two seasons.

No he doesn’t get “hyped up” at all. People see a young player with one full season under his belt, barely even an adult, with plenty of scope to improve. I know it’s dead cool and edgy to be able to say you were the first to write a player off early in their career, but what do you gain from it really? And coming on here after every half decent performance from him to remind us all that he’s actually crap because you said so, isn’t going to do you any good either.

What does this mean? Is the fact that at 20 years of age he can put on the Captain's armband and have a great game against a Championship side something that should be seen as a sign that he's lacking or behind in his development as a player?

Unreal some of the criticism the lad gets.

Rubbish

Shades of McCarthy's first season under Martinez last night.

Hassling players, winning back the ball and breaking up the play.
Doing all the unglamorous legwork very well.

Hope he's now beginning to find his role and make it his own, if only to shut the "not good enough, lad" crowd up.

20 years old ffs.
Exactly.

When Peter Reid was 20 he was playing for Bolton in the old 2nd Division.

When Kevin Sheedy was 20 he was playing for Liverpool reserves.

Get off the lad's back.
