This season has the potential to be utterly nuts though, when you look at the results, with the scorelines and the strange situation everyone is in, another Leicester like title win is certainly not out of the question.

Liverpool, united and City have already been anhilated and there's been so many dropped points from the better teams against the lesser teams, that's why it's pointless people saying "who have they played" when describing us.
One thing we learnt from Leicester winning the league is that teams outside the top 6 aren't taken seriously. Even with 2 or 3 games to go, most expected Leicester to blow it.
It would be exactly the same if Everton got in that position. TBH it'll be the same if we're in 4th with a few games to go.

Top 4 challenges are made in the first half of the season. Leicester when they won the league weren’t even top during the first few mo this but they just kept going. Of course we’ll lose a game somewhere, but in the past one loss has turned into not winning away from home for the rest of the season and picking up 2 points from the next 6 games. Hopefully Carlo doesn’t let that happen. Of course we’ll hit a rough spell at some point but if we have players like James, Richarlison and DCL in the line up we look like we can score at any point no matter how badly we’re playing. When we’re playing at our best we look like we could take anyone. Indeed we just drew with a Liverpool team who threw the kitchen sink at us and we didn’t even play that well.

In past seasons we would have drawn or lost the Spurs game, drawn to West Brom after being pegged back twice, probably drawn to Palace and got beaten by Liverpool. We’d be sat here on 6 points no confidence and wondering if we could make a run for the europa later in the season.

This is not Martinez managing McCarthy Deulofeu and Osman, this is not Koeman with Ashley Williams, Bolasie, and Tom Davies (and even both of them put together a decent challenge on the top 4). This is Carlo Ancelotti (leagues above either of those two, indisputably one of the greatest managers of all time) managing James Rodriguez, Lucas Digne, Richarlison and Calvert Lewin - players that any single team in the world would take. Seriously on current form those players could walk into the starting 11s of City, Madrid, or Barcelona.

Why can’t we go for top 4?! Rodgers built a title challenge on Suarez Sturridge Sterling and Coutinho in front of a laughable defence and midfield. Why can’t Ancelotti mount a push for fourth with those players above when his competition is Solskjaer, Lampard, and Arteta, managers not fit to put his cones out.

The key will be a settled team with little changes. Richarlison I think did need a rest but maybe 1 game and not 3. Holgate and Gbamin back by December will give us a bit more strength in Depth.

it’s good that we have brought in Godfrey also who is versatile.

One game at a time.

The key for me will be to avoid significant injuries to DCL/Richie - they get the goals and I don't think we can afford both to be out at the same time.

I think we've got options all over the pitch and with a great start to build upon we've got a decent chance.

Agreed. The one irreplaceable for me is James though. Even against Liverpool he crafted both goals. His through ball to DCL was from nothing and we got the corner from it which he assisted Keane’s goal. Then he put Digne through with the perfect ball to cross in for DCL. He also put it on a plate for Richarlison at the back post. We could never replace him. If he stays fit though he can rescue wins and draws from any situation, that’s how good he is, even against a team like Liverpool he almost beat them singlehandedly.

You could well be right about James being the irreplaceable one. Hopefully, we'll never have to have Tosun up front to find out. He is a joy to watch that swinging cross-field pass was amazing as their full back realised he couldn't get to it.

Superb post - totally agree.

Do you know , and I admit it sounds crazy , but I could see Tosun bagging in this side. He is ( supposed to be anyway ) a penalty box player.

For me it's not about us, it's about the other contenders, how good or bad they are doing.
Who are the normal candidates? And how are they doing, as a few just dont look top 4, including Liverppol. Lack of form from others makes us a serious candidate.

We'll take a firm grip on this title on 20th Feb at the pit, winning with a Pickford penalty, followed by crowds being allowed back in sometime in April, so we can celebrate in style at the old lady come seasons end. Decades of misery healed in one season by Don Carlo.
