I wouldn't be so quick to write off Bernard. Ok he hasn't settled in Russia, but there could be many reasons for that other than the actual football.
It doesn't seem to be the easiest place for people to settle who don't come from there.
He's only 22 years old and clearly has talent.
I remember when Arteta showed glimpses of his quality as a young lad at Rangers but was soon off back to Spain as he couldn't settle and struggled to adapt to the demands of the British game.
When we signed him from Sociedad at 23 years old the same reservations were there for him but he turned out to be a fabulous player for us.
It would be a risk spending big on him sure, but he'd be an intriguing signing and I'd sooner take a punt on him than go the Lennon/Moses/Januzaj route.

Lennon was a pivotal signing for us last season. Would have him again in a heartbeat. Not the sexy move but a good one.
I don't get the Januzaj hate on here...he's probably better than Del at this level right now.
You clearly can't remember when we replaced Rooney with Marcus Bent... We finished 4th that season...

That was gut wrenching when we did that,but he did great for us for 12 months.
I don't know if I should be more angry at Everton or John Stones. If we really have been saying he's not for sale and for everything we've done for him he's just decided with less than a week in the window to go to absolutely shaft us, well... yeh, I hate him.
