God damn it.
Some of you badly need sorting out. Ignoring the incessant toddler behaviour in here just for a second, the horrible attempts at humour in this thread have given me a headache.
Just saying the word Stoke isn't funny. Saying it every post for 20 pages is even less funny. If you want to chat dribble, at least give me a laugh from it because at the moment I'm forced to look at some of you like the new kid at school who is desperately quoting Simpsons lines in the hope that somebody will laugh so he can stave off suicidal thoughts for 15 minutes.
And Jonny Evans is a perfectly fine signing. It will be for less than 8 million pounds. He will also sign a playmaker. It will be okay, and even if it's not, there's sod all you can do about it other than keep crying into your corn flakes, which hasn't worked so far.
Does anyone else think the money being quoted for McCarthy seems low by modern standards? Most media outlets are saying Man City will offer £20m and Spurs will offer £12m plus Lennon.
We paid £13m I think and there were add ons up to £15m, so to sell him for £5m more 2 years later doesn't seem like good business to me.

I would have thought £25m cash or £20m plus Lennon.
Also (from the article) it says Lennon is valued at £9m. I'm not sure about that, given his age and the fact that he is in the final year of his contract.
Then again if Evans is £8m, maybe I am behind the times
Interesting comments on the ManUre site concerning Evans, they believe its a goer too
"a little low fee considering what he can do at his best, which in case has been a while. however, he gets a very unfair deal here which is not surprising considering the memories seem to be limited. he is still better than any of our other defenders on the ball"
Think there's the reason why Boberto is keen
Martinez breaking our transfer record for a midfielder, striker, and defender in three consecutive summer windows. Add on the host of loan players he's been able to have and the fact we've kept our best players (Fellaini aside), he is swimming in a completely different pool to Moyes thanks to the tv money. Shame its negated in that everyone else has that benefit as well in the prem at least.
Hows he broken the midfield transfer record?
Can he tackle?Interesting comments on the ManUre site concerning Evans, they believe its a goer too

You've watched him enough to say he isn't a decent center back mate?Didnt know much about Alcaraz but i was horrified at the signings of McGeady and Kone...Evans is in that bracket.
Absolutely fuming here, either spend money on a decent centre back or get in a loan...dont just waste money on rubbish!!!
If this transfer happens it will destroy my positivity with Cleverley/Henen/Garbutt/Deulofeu and i will expect an Andrei Kanchelskis level signing for the window to end on a positive.
Should be all over Arda Turan on loan.
Can he tackle?
It looks like he can pass.
Could he replace Barry?
Does he score from corners?
Im fuming at this one and i rarely get this wound up.
McGeady was, essentially, free. Kone was a proven premier league goal scorer for 6 million, which wasn't an amazing deal, but it wasn't the complete mistake that many pretend it was. Had he not gotten injured, it would have been fine. Evans is a good defender for a reasonable fee. He is experienced and fits our system. He'll provide squad rotation and cover while giving Stones, Galloway and Browning the opportunity to develop.Didnt know much about Alcaraz but i was horrified at the signings of McGeady and Kone...Evans is in that bracket.

From what I've seen he is rather decent.
I actually had a sleepless night last night when i read all this. I mean thats really ridiculous but i'm totally gobsmacked at the pure stupidity of this signing.
