He actually said two are closer to completion and in the works.

I'm made up with that press conference, after listening to people on here saying we're not going to sign anybody. I think it's great to hear from the horses mouth, we are going to sign 3 new players. Excellent!

Only half agree. While I'm not overly arsed about any of the players who have gone elsewhere, I do think we are playing a very risky game by waiting as we are.

If prices are silly now that's the way it is. We need players so should pay the prices instead of being bad scruffs waiting for the end of lunch break to pick up a cheap sausage roll.

I don't think we have a choice since the target we have wasn't available earlier. However it is risky.

Sure it'll pop up somewhere but he basically said Andrade is already with the youth squad, and that he's hopeful we'll get a loan with a view to buy and he's one for the future.

That's the reason we can't be signing anymore journey man players as squad filler. It's impossible to get rid of them. Even on a free they cost too much money for what they offer. Best using kids and loans.

What about senior signings?

Initially said he wanted 3 to have "the squad we need to compete", but then a bit later he said 2-3. So, to me, that reads a CB and an attacking miid are the priority, and someone like Lennon could come in at the end of the window.

He is right about Barkley. He looks athletically much better. Last season he looked a bit overweight and slow. In pre-season the opposite.
