I was never having the Austin rumour personally. Too much money for a second striker, unless one of either Naismith or Kone or even Mcaleney being sold to help finance it.

I think the main target seems to be getting Shaqiri in. If we can get him In and keep hold of Stones, then I can see our last pieces of business been done on deadline day.

I thought the same regarding spending 15m on a 2nd striker. I was assuming we'd buy a cb and playmaker while loaning a forward but loaning the playmaker and buying the forward works either way

I thought we would bring in a centre half and play maker on transfer and loan a young forward. However loaning Shaqiri would be a master stroke. We would have a year to see if he really wants to play for Everton and how he does form wise. It would free up money for a forward. The centre half from Genoa looks experienced enough to do a job.
Fly in the ointment is it looks like Inter need a transfer fee for Shaqiri.
The old rumour mill is grinding on.

I'd guess if we bought someone like Austin then we'd try and offload Kone, either to a Championship club or abroad. His confidence is shot here, a move might just get him going again.

Chances are he'll still be with us come September though, which, barring some miraculous recovery in form, is good for neither club nor player, unless he's happy just to pick his wages up.

They want him gone, the later in the window it gets, the more likely they will accept a loan with an obligation to buy perhaps...

I'd take Shaqiri at this desperate point in a heartbeat, but in an ideal world he seems all wrong attitude-wise.

As for Austin: we've been duped. Bad enough being duped by Kopites, but Evertonians?! Shameful.

There's definitely an interest in Austin, that's been confirmed by someone who knows but they still expect him to go elsewhere. We are in the mix though.

Deep down I think they don't know where this heading themselves, I just think that's how football works.

1 deal is obviously linked to another. If we get Shaq on loan then we can afford Austin if not we buy the Barca lad and it's another forward in the cheap or on loan. It's all about sorting the primary target first which in this instance seems to be Shaq.

Just going in another direction, BBC's gossip column says Lennon hasn't even been given a squad number at Spurs.

I'm amazed we didn't snap him up, maybe Deulofeu coming in put paid to that?

I'd happily swap McGeady for Lennon though, not that Spurs would be having that!

Shaqiri is joining Everton so some bitter Stoke fans said they are a building a team and Everton stand still lol. They are deluded.
