Travel thread 3.0

Just planned and booked our annual jaunt to Croatia to show some friends who haven’t been before.
Not the most adventurous choices due to limited bus and ferry timetables but still good fun....starting in Split, on to Makarska, then Dubrovnik, next Korcula, then Hvar, on to Brac, back to Split then to Trogir. All a bit touristy but it’s a good first ‘taster’ for our friends.
Great country to just book air bnb’s in a different place/island each night and spend a couple of hrs in the morning on a bus, ferry or train....small cabin-sized bag each and not much else needed.

Planning to go to Croatia in September and try to see a few places, potentially renting a car. Anyone done similar before?
Done it a dozen or so times but just use their public transport network.....timetables and prices of ferry’s and buses (actually coaches) are easily manageable beforehand and you are best ore-booking tickets online as they can get busy. Just book Airbnb’s in each destination....the quality is never underwhelming.
Planning depends on whether you want to see Dubrovnik or not really.....if it were me and you want to see ‘real’ Croatia rather than cruise-ship Croatia then I’d give it a miss ( unless you make it as part of a trip to include Bosnia and Montenegro which is really worth doing). I’d say fly into Pula and fly out of Split or Zadar and try to fit in an itinerary that gets you to places like Porec, Rijeka, Rovinj, Rijeka, Sibenik, Cres, Zadar, Trogir and Split plus some of the brilliant little towns and islands in the Istrian part of the country. Or start in Split and do some of the popular islands like Hvar, Brac, Korcula. We’ve not had a single day out of probably a 100 in Croatia where we haven’t thoroughly enjoyed it. Taking the coaches and ferries allows you to digest the sights in between destinations and, means you don’t need to worry about what you drink before journeying out. The planning for us is part of the fun....we generally go as a group of 4 couples and they leave the planning to us.
Croatia is a great choice....and in September you’ll get the chance to take in an HNL game or two for sure.

Anyone done India, ideally navigating the country by train? It’s top of the wife’s bucket list so looking to plan something in advance for next year. Any help, guidance much appreciated as it’s a part of the World I know little about.

Visiting Scotland for the first time at the end of April for a ten day touring trip, also booked Kefalonia in September, never been there before either. Really looking forward to both.

i spent 6 months backpacking around india when i was younger,
it will blow you away, theres no other country like it on earth!
the south is far different than the north.
i barely scratched the surface in 6 months.

Bergamo is an absolute gem an Atalanta game.
Managed to persuade the kid he would prefer Gardaland to Disneyland so we can visit the Italian lakes rather than Florida.

I take it Bergamo is worth a visit? Was planning to fly into Verona but can fly to Bergamo from Liverpool. Will definitely visit Verona either way.
