Travel thread 3.0

Anyone have recommendations of stuff to do in Singapore? Will have 5 days there in November. 2 days will probably be taken up by the Gardens by the Bay. What else is a must see/do?
Get the train to KL. Found Singapore really dull. Good food though. Insanely humid. Take tonnes of shirts.

For the person with 'unusual tastes.'

Everybody should get a whiff of nature.... ?

Just back from Javea in Spain , went via Liverpool to alicante , no bother with passport queue at either end, supposed to be a ten minute wait in alicante , but they just opened another gate and you virtually walked through.
Javea itself was very quite during the week , never seen it like that before, have been 5 times, talking to a few that lived there full time said that plenty of places were shutting down, but opening again up just as quick.
The people there warned us the last few years a lot of young Spanish had arrived in July and August the last two years and it was very busy and full of late night noise ect and not what they were wanting for the resort, funny enough same message I got from bar owners in Menorca in September,
They want the British/Dutch ect to return spend more and quicker and not as prone to anti social stuff till dawn.
A few of the main bars got shutdown by the police while we were there, due to on going problems with local laws, all owned a group of Brits, locals said it was because of noise last summer and they had ignored warnings to shut.
No messing about with the cops over there just marched in said everyone go, didn't even give time for people to pay the bills ect.
Funny enough the night club responsible for the noise, just opened up on Friday night anyway.
Enjoyed the week , but it has aways been a very mixed place, Brits, mostly Spanish families, Dutch , French and Scandinavian, not to sure they will go if it becomes a weekend place for young Spanish people, don't think I will be going again if it goes that way, to old for all that.
I'm in Gandia just up the coast and in late July when the kids from Madrid hit town the noise levels do go pretty high. Spring and Autumn are the best times to visit the Costas.

Off on a jolly boys outing to Benidorm next week, thinking of taking a trip to Altea to escape the madness for a bit. Home a couple of weeks and going to Santorini with Mrs K, an island I've always wanted to visit.

Santorini is a fantastic island to visit. A lot of hippies who got lost in their trips to India and back ended up there and decided to make it their home.

That vibe still kinda exists in certain parts of the south like Perissa and Agios Giorgios, however Fira itself is very upmarket, chic and ultra expensive.

However having said that Fira is stunning and the perfect place for a sundowner.

Have been to Santorini loved it ,
Stayed in kamari it wasn't to expensive there but can be in other places.
Some good trips on offer , try the local run ones the holiday rep ones are normally crowded.
If you go to see sunset, go away from the main square and towards a little windmill, there is a chill out bar right there , on the cliff, built into it ,a brilliant view a bit expensive drinks wise but worth it there is a restaurant just below.
Sure you will like it.
