Travel thread 3.0

Apparently, the Alhambra and similarly popular sites get booked up well in advance. Don't know this for sure but it might be worth checking to avoid disappointment?

In Seville, the Cathedral is worth queuing for just for the views from the top of the tower alone. There are a number of other things to see in there as well. The queue for the alcazar is also worth it. Like most Spanish cities you can spend several days wandering round the old town regions, discovering something new every day ...

Having just come back from this, can heartily endorse this post. I did love the Alhambra and managed to get tickets before I went (though not for the Nasrid Palaces as there werent any available).

Hi all. Recently became a father for the first time and we're looking to go away between Jan-May before OH goes back to work. Little one will be 8/9 months by then. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions of places they'd recommend? Ideally somewhere warmer than here!
First of all CONGRATULATIONS xx Corfu mid May is a good shout as it is a northern Greek Island not too hot not too cool but ideal for you both and the little one . Again..... congrats to you both xxx

Depends on the kind of holiday you want. In the algarve and south of Spain from Jan-March weather can be unpredictable but can still get 20+ sunny days if you’re lucky and it’s easy enough with a young one.

Flying with a baby can be pretty stressful but worth it to see all the peoples’ faces who you’re sitting next to on boarding. Get in the plane as late as possible so they might have even started thinking there’s empty seats.

We we went to Corfu with the little one who was 14 months old in April judt gone.

We were there before Greek easter and it was very quiet with not alot open near our resort but we were only 20 minutes on a bus from Corfu old town which was very busy so best of both worlds.

We took the little one on a week long med cruise in October when she was 8 months old. Thats a good option too.

Booked NYC for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Not been there for almost 15 years

Will take in a Yankees match.
Be prepared for the ridiculous prices compared to last time..... I was tipping left, right and centre in 2008, went back last year and grudgingly gave bare minimum when I had too!

Off to Kos (Tigaki) at end of June if anyone has suggestions for days out (preferably doable by public transport) restaurants, bars etc.

Bodrum in Turkey is a half hour boat ride. West meets East 2 countries and cultures. What is not to like about th
Cheers. Have thought about that given it’s not that far to Kos town. Only concern is queuing up at border control both ways and how long it may take.
