Lake Garda - any thoughts?
Going in July for four nights, flying into Milan and looking to hire a car. Hoping to cover as much of the lake in three days and possibly spend the last day around Milan
Flew into Verona end of May with the family, stayed in peschiera area. Peschiera nice little town with some great restaurants. Didn't venture out from there really as it was Eurocamp, but apparently Sirmione supposed to decent. Having a lot of unseasonal rain too

Erm enjoy your trip

I first went in 2006 and instead of lullabies they used gun fire as the sound to sleep to. There were no cars and the roads were little more than dirt tracks. The development was astonishing considering.

@Noisy noise annoys I'd recommend doing the typical touristy things. The Angkor Wat complex is one of my favourite places in the world. I feel at complete peace there and have been 6 times to date. The killing fields/S21 in PP are a horrific day out but a must do.

As said on here, it's very safe on the whole and the people are friendly.

Made it! Thanks for the tips. Not been nicked yet

Just got back from a few days down there (in Bardolino). Traffic round the lake is madness in high season (all those pesky cyclists, German RV drivers and tour buses on narrow winding roads). Tbh, if I had just a few nights, I'd probably base myself at the south end of the lake (Peschiera and Bardolino would be good options) and use the ferries to get around to places like Sirmione, Gardone Riviera and Malcesine. Peschiera also has a train station and there are decent public transport options (although see above about the roads if you are thinking of taking a bus).

We stayed in Riva del Garda one of the bigger towns, it was boss. You can get a ferry from there to most places on the lake.

Pity you aren't flying to Verona, much nicer than Milan.

Maybe this is not the fault of Manchester Airport but it is still the worst airport I have had the misfortune to take a flight from

Ive never minded it so much. Bit of a mission for parking which I find at every airport tbh.
Worst is Heathrow for me.
