Travel thread 3.0

6 weeks to go until we fly to Japan, flight paid for by my daughter for my 60th. She asked me just in conversation about where I'd like to go, Japan or Argentina (Tierra Del Fuego). Since I was a child Japan and Iceland are the two countries I've always wanted to visit, done Iceland twice and the natural wonders there have to be seen if you ever have the chance. I'm sure Japan will be worth the 50+ year wait.
You’ll love it. One of my favorite countries to visit

Got a long weekend in August (thurs to mon), thinking of going away somewhere (not too far, mainly Europe) that I haven't been before. Love places like Barcelona, Nice, Bilbao etc. Been to Paris, Madrid, Munich, Warsow, Vilnius and Kaunas, most of the main Italian cities (north of Naples). Pref somewhere with culture/achitecture to see, but good socail/night life as well. Poss on the sea/water. What would ppl recommend?
In addition to what has already been mentioned, Central Europe or the Balkans might offer some possibilities? Eg Budapest, Bratislava, Split etc

Seville

Flights seem ridiculous at the moment. Want to go to Valencia again this autumn. Prices have gone up massively since the same time last year
Read recently that bookings were up a lot, so the airlines, particularly the ones who sell package hols, are expecting a good year profit-wise.

Knock on is that with demand comes the price hike. Probably other stuff going on, clawing back losses from covid, fuel prices going up last year (they'll be slow to pass any savings on).
