Just going back to flights...

Looked at a trip to Amsterdam in Oct. Easyjet, based on the initial search, looked cheaper. However, to take anything other than a farty backpack you have to pay extra for a carry on suitcase/bag.

Compared same date flights with KLM, where decent hand luggage is included, and lo! Actually cheaper by about £40.

Domidva similar exercise for Krakow and Prague against Ryanair/Wizzair and other perceived better standard carriers. There's some savings to be had if you're prepared to dig around.

Just going for one night when in NYC next month, is the inner harbour safe? Is it ok to walk around at night, any reccomendations?
Nice nice.

The inner harbor is perfectly safe, but the further from the water you go, the sketchier it gets. I'd be a bit careful walking too much at night, might be best to take an Uber once the sun goes down.

As for recommendations, I'd certainly check out Fells Point. Also by the water a bit east of the inner harbor. Nice area with some cool shops/restaurants. There's also a brewery called "Ministry of Brewing" that's located in an old church if you fancy a beer.

Overall the city isn't as bad as it's made out to be IMO, but still a place you want to be a bit careful.

Appreciate it lad, will let you know how it goes and will stick to Ubers at night

Read recently that bookings were up a lot, so the airlines, particularly the ones who sell package hols, are expecting a good year profit-wise.

Knock on is that with demand comes the price hike. Probably other stuff going on, clawing back losses from covid, fuel prices going up last year (they'll be slow to pass any savings on).
It's mad. This time last year I booked a flight to Valencia one month in advance. Looked again this year, this time 2 months in advance but travelling at the same time of the year. The cost has almost doubled.

I read something about the German government increasing taxes on flights to discourage unnecessary air travel. Not sure if that's true though. Might try again with a VPN and see what happens.

We looked at the Eurostar as an option. Even including train fares to get into London, it's competitive and often cheaper option to get to France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
