Fair enough...

Again, he's played 10 minutes this season so thats the least you would expect no ? So in 10 minutes this season, he hasn't put a foot wrong (fair play) and he hasn't done anything at all of note... so that's average. Not understanding the wank fest to justify average.

He's actually played about 30+ minutes

I wasnt really counting the minutes mate.

But now you've corrected it, he shouldnt be judged on 30 appearances let alone 30 minutes. I'll need to see a lot more of this lad before I join the love in. Not understanding it right now. We'll see

Just like we cant/shouldnt judge Besic on his awful 10 minute first showing in competitive football; we shouldnt judge Browning on his average 10 minutes.

He'll no doubt become a good player for us, important player; but lets not get carried away, he's done jack. We have people throwing him in the first team with this injury to Stones. Based on what? A few minutes of 'solid' competitive football...
I agree you shouldn't judge a player until he's had a decent run in the side, and that applies whether they have been good or bad. Also not a fan of building a young player up to impossible highs only to rip him to shreds a few games later.

But not sure why there is a problem with being encouraged by a young acedemy grads early performances. There is huge difference between that and going overboard. It is natural to look for positives when lots of other areas of the team appear shaky - Ty's cameos have been one of those.

You also keep saying he has done "jack" in his "10 minutes" whilst ignoring that some of us have watched him play far more than that.

So, have we another Hibbert on our hands or a diamond like Seamus? I think he's done ok when he has come on, not sure how his attacking game is but he can mark a man and has good pace and upper body strength. Will do job but never stand out like Coleman. I'd take him over Hibbo on the bench for those reasons.

Been impressed with him at U21 level, obviously a huge step up though

How on earth can you jump to such a conclusion on so little data? Coleman didn't look like Coleman in his first senior games played out of position either!

It is unlikely that Browning will be as good a CB as Coleman is a RB, not because of any fault of his own but just that the odds are against him. Heck, Barkley and Stones may not fulfill their early promise either - injuries alone can prove hard for promsing young players as Wilshire has shown.

But why be so keen to make definitive judgements on how good/bad a player he can be now?

Personally I think Browning has looked better than Stones at right back who frankly I don't rate at all in that position. So I'm definitely interested in seeing him play his correct position.

However there's too little to go on. A pre-season game or so and a couple of cameo appearances.

You on about the Derby??

He did nothing more than what Hibbert was already doing but not a lot are mentioning this. Did you read the match thread before kick off? Hibbert got ripped several new ones, I joined in and rightfully so, but all things considered Hibbert did fine.

Browning replaced Hibbert and it was like for like... fine (average)

sorry mate, you're talking out your hole to be fair. browning was above average in his brief derby appearance which was longer than 10 mins so you cant have even been paying that much attention. not enough to judge him out though, you're right about that though.

Get the feeling that he might just get the nod to replace Stones you know. He's trusted him with cameo's at Anfield and Old Trafford, both games we were losing at the time and susceptible to the counter attack. He clearly has trust in him. I see no reason why he cant be a good replacement for Stones.

He seems way more suited to playing as a centerback than a right back but I do have some concerns on his height playing as a centre half.

HE IS A CENTRE BACK
That may be true. But Phil Jagielka was once a CM and Barry a CB.
I'll judge Browning at where I've seen him play and that has been at RB. Been a competent player there so far, particularly given his composure in the high pressure games he has been thrust into which belies his age. However there's been a limited sample size so I'd really need to see more of the kid to make any judgement calls beyond that
