Ukraine invasion and the sanction of Oligarchs

Our gate receipts are tiny, we have already borrowed against the TV money. So without the funds USM and Moshiri pump in we are effectively insolvent. Add in the huge debts and the club is in its most financially precarious position ever.

Even with massive funding from USM in the last accounts, our wages were 89% of our entire turnover.
You've shown nothing that hints at Moshiri not being able to continue to invest his money in EFC.

Why is Moshiri going to be unable to continue to fund us?

We already have numerous MP's calling for sanctions to levelled against Usmanov. That means sanctions against USM his holding company. They aren't going to put sanctions on the 80% of the company that Usmanov and Skoch own. It will be the entire company.

When governments start freezing assets it is up to the individual to prove that the assets are clean. That could take years to do.

Is there a reason you didn't post at all since Everton beat Leeds, you get buzzed off (as per usual) then come back today spouting your usual tripe?

And that means we maybe lose a sponsorship deal.

It doesn't mean we can't fund a stadium like you're making out.

A lot of this is over my head but I'm less concerned about money already paid. What's the score with future investment in the hypothetical situation that sanctions are made against Usmanov or companies such as USM and their ability to work within the UK? Stadium build, ongoing payments from sponsorship deals etc if something like removing access from SWIFT is done? However likely or unlikely that is.

Usmanov has been personally named in Parliament and there are solid financial links between his company holdings and indeed the shareholdings and positions held by Farhad Moshiri.

He's been named in Parliament by Margaret Hodge, who thinks Jeremy Corbyn is an anti-semite. She's an utter scumbag and a liar. If She says Usmanov has links, that's probably good evidence he doesn't.

Where does Moshiri earn the money he spends on Everton. His partial ownership of USM. That raises two issues. Firstly, what happens when the west starts freezing the assets of Russian companies and their owners. Secondly, why would Moshiri fund a new stadium when his assets could be frozen at anytime. Why would the banks or finacial institutions get involved in a project that could get frozen at any time.

There is a clear precedent here. Abramovich was going to spend north of a Billion on a new stadium for Chelsea. The plans for the Stadium were shelved when he ran into visa problems in 2018.

We are now in a financial situation that means the Club would instantly become insolvent without the funding that comes directly or indirectly from USM. If people think this seems far-fetched then USM has already been targetted by the west. The 'S' in 'USM' Andrei Skoch has been subject to US sanctions since 2018.

From the US treasury. https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sm0338

Andrei Skoch is being designated for being an official of the Government of the Russian Federation. Skoch is a deputy of the Russian Federation’s State Duma. Skoch has longstanding ties to Russian organized criminal groups, including time spent leading one such enterprise.

There is a lot of nonsense about sanctions. The government are going with light touch, as some of what is being suggested is wholly unreasonable.

When are we sanctioning British people and businesses for the War in Iraq or Ireland? Or USA for the war in Vietnam, Iraq and Afganistan? Or Saudi Arabia for Yemen? Or is it different when "we" do it.

Moshiri is a British citizen who has nothing to do with Russia. Are we seriously saying anyone who owns shares in a business that might have operations in Russia will have their assets frozen. It's massive overkill and will not happen, and nor should it in any civilised society.
