I dont so much doubt him, i am just less sold on him - i can't put my finger on it - i wasn't jumping out my seat before the final result, and i certainly didnt jump out of it after it.

Thats just my opinion though, he doesnt fill me with excitement.

Monchi would be a great DoF appointment if we go down that route - be interesting to see who we go for on that front.

No worries I get that. Every candidate is a risk, so it's more of creating a good list in my mind.

I am just very bummed after trying to sell the same point on TW and someone tried to trump him with Benitez.

Hopefully the delay is nuance that they are taking this appointment very seriously and scouring every possible candidate out there.

TW?

From the rumours we are using a team to go out, i would expect that Emery would be at least contacted - with the final this weekend i doubt that would or any serious discussions, would take place till then.

I may be being a bit harsh on him, I probably am his Valencia record was good - think the time at Spartak is probably tinting it a bit, another country and all that.

Who knows... we will get the best we can i have no doubt, if he is on the list you have to trust the men doing it.

Mourinho is a no brainer , but the other candidates mentioned most often are FDB, Koeman and Emery.
If you look at their careers over the last seven or eight years compared to each other , who would you employ ?

Managing Sevilla and Valencia in La Liga is very similar to managing Everton in the Prem budget/competition wise so he'd be my choice over Koeman who would be the safer option and the least likely to flop.

I have to admit i'm not a fan of De Boer at all i think he's taken advantage of a terrible league with a big club with only one team as any opposition and has been dismal in Europe, if he wasn't called Frank De Boer with an amazing playing career no one would even consider him, he's basically done at Ajax what Neil Lennon did at Celtic and no one in their right mind of would of considered him.

Steve McClaren won the Dutch League ffs lol

I think you are right. Overall I would still just go for De Boer, just because I think he's most suited to us (even though he may be slightly weaker than the other 2).

We will all have our favourites. Each of the managers have pro's and cons. I think what will be important is when the manager is appointed if it's one of those 3 we get behind them. I'd prefer De Boer but in all honesty would be delighted with Emery (who I think may go onto be a newer more successful version of Benitez) and Koeman (who's record in the second half of this season is brilliant).

The team Steve McClaren won the league with are about to be relegated for breaking the rules.

Basically he cheated.

Steve McClaren won the league once. De Boer has finished in the top 2 every season and won it 4 times in a row.

Two team league, everyone else is broke.

De Boer season achievements

CL qualifying lost to the Austraian powerhouse Rapid Vienna
Europa League Group stages - failed to get out of a group with Celtic, Molde, Fenerbahce, won 1 game out of 6.
Dutch Cup - lost to hated rivals Feyenoord
Dutch League - just had to beat something called De Grafschaap to win the league, bottled it and drew.

Wow sign me up!

I think it's a myth it's a two team league. McLaren won the league with a third team (before De Boer was managing Ajax)!

We can pick out individual games and results for all managers. There are some poor ones in their and his European record is scratchy. However it's hard to argue that his league record as a whole is very good and consistent. I also think that the Dutch league is a bit more competitive than a 2 team league.

I could easily say Emery has failed outside of Spain. He hasn't won a league game away all season. Not great but the balanced view is that he has done a very good job in spite of these things.

In the same way, I am not having that De Boers record isn't very impressive to date. I think the two team league stuff is very simplistic. It's become a two team league largely because of the management and consistency of De Boer ensuring no other sides had a chance!

Not really it's very much a 2 team league lately, Feyenoord could be a 3rd force but haven't won it for 17 years.

Dutch league 5 winners in last 15 years
English league 5 winners in last 15 years
Spanish league 5 winners in last 15 years
Italian league 5 winners in last 15 years
German league 5 winners in last 15 years
SPL 2 winners in last 15 years

You see where im going with this?

Honestly mate he didn't exactly fail in Spartak IMO, the mistake he made was not realising that foreign coaches are treated WAY more harshly in that league and the owner had very unreasonable expectations about what he expected given the funding of the teams he expected to be ahead of in that league

Canned half a season in whilst sitting in a league position that is normally a good season for Spartak in recent years

Well in the previously 11 years to De Boer taking over there were 5 separate winners of the Dutch league! Thats hardly a "2 team league".

De Boer's consistency and success has turned it into a 2 team league.

Russia is a very hard league. The point I was making was there are pro's and cons that could be made with each manager. De Boers record in Europe is poor. Emery's record in Leagues is ok but nowhere near his Europa league miracles.

I do think we need to knock on the head the "2 team league" stuff though. The Dutch league prior to his arrival was a very open league. Yes Ajax are miles ahead now and thats down to De Boer not the nature of the league.

Does De Boer have the biggest budget in the league? Yes he does (though he has to sell players). Thats a fair point to make. Pellegrini has the biggest budget in this league and has won the league once in 3 years.

6 top 2 finishes with 4 consecutive wins is a very good performance, even with the best backed team in the league. There are other problems with De Boer but that isn't one of them.
