I really dont understand this.

FDB brought back the title to Ajax after 7 years and was competing with clubs with higher wage budgets + spent £4.5mil on his major transfer bringing in £60mil+ as a net spend whilst losing Ericsson and Vertonghen amongst others.

Whilst Emery has done similar at Sevilla he hasnt brought through the amount of young players which FDB has and has limited english.

I dont see how appointing one over the other shows no ambition? FDB is also more of a believer in exciting players rather than workhorses and ultra defensive players in the team.
I like De Boer, he overachieved at Ajax no question about it. I think he'd do well at Everton.
With regard to workhorses and Emery I think you're being harsh. Again I think you have to look at what Sevilla can spend and who they can attract. When he managed Valencia he helped to develop Juan Mata, David Silva, David Villa and Joaquín etc. He loved working with Mata and Silva but they had to be sold, Joaquín said he was one of the best managers he'd worked with. So he can work with flair players and can certainly manage them.

The same way you can oversell Emery based on 1 season finishing 7th.

But im not basing his record on this season and neither is anybody else, he has won the Europa League 3 times, thats the only reason most people want him, cos quite frankly his league record is average, basically what im saying is finishing between 5th-7th with Sevilla isnt impressive.

You might counter that by saying that neither is winning the PL with Chelsea, Serie A with Inter or La Liga with Real, yet those clubs have all struggled without Jose to lead them to the title.

Im not sure on the point your trying to make really.

Mate im a fan of the fella, I said prior to the game if he wins he becomes my 2nd choice.

Todays list :

1. Cocu
2. Emery
3. Favre
4. FDB
5. Koeman

I think he should definitely be considered.

He's achieved an awful lot in his managerial career so far in what is undoubtedly the best league in football. Three 3rd place finishes with Valencia, three consecutive Europa Leagues now with Sevilla and has even brought a team (UD Almeria) up from the second division and then got them comfortably in the top half of the table the following year. Yes that away record this season is an appalling stat but I think that should be put down to them having an strange year rather than fact that their manager is crap, sometimes seasons are just strange like that. We had one last year, we were blowing away really good teams in the Europa League yet getting battered by downright average sides in the league only a few weeks later. It happens sometimes, players just suffer a bit of mental block in certain competitions for some reason. And despite being poor away from home all year they've still gone on to win a major trophy so you can't even class this as a bad season for them. Even when they're off the pace they got the biggest games of their season won. That's what I want most of from our new manager, someone who can drag the players over the line on the big occasions. Sick of falling short because we bottled it or because of hard-luck story.

While i kinda agree with the development, i don't think you can count Joaquin in that. They bought him for 18million and was considered one of the best Spanish wingers in years at that time.

I am very meh with Emery - sure his Europe record is good, but i am just not that fussed. Id rather take their director of football, he is the one who puts the players in the shirts.

I think resource wise, he's better than you give him credit for. I would take him over anyone other than Simeone, especially since he's still very young compared to some of our other linked managers.

I do agree with the DoF thing, if we're to install our first DoF, I want Monchi's input.

Guess this thread dropped faster than the Mou thread. I wonder how fast a Cocu thread will drop.

I dont so much doubt him, i am just less sold on him - i can't put my finger on it - i wasn't jumping out my seat before the final result, and i certainly didnt jump out of it after it.

Thats just my opinion though, he doesnt fill me with excitement.

Monchi would be a great DoF appointment if we go down that route - be interesting to see who we go for on that front.

I wasn't jumping out of my seat but there was s few fist pumps to be honest!

Agree it's why most people want him is the EL wins mate, would disagree that his overall league record is average though, at Valencia he did as good a job as anyone could have at that time
