I think we used to on a carrier for a while. Radio here sucks. 2 sportstalk am stations, 1 classic rock one, and jarg jarg jarg. It is one of the stations we cycle through when visiting my wife's folks up in Phoenix.

In three weeks I'll be in Asuncion... that God for streaming, as I imagine most of the radio there won't be up my alley.

I've been prodding Holmberg for 2 years now on Everton...sent him a shirt earlier in the season. He mentioned us 4 times this morning in relation to Tim Howard. He tries to be a weapon about it though and talk football down, the knobhead. It's just bantz, though. I think he's starting to understand the attraction.

To be fair I've worked in the states a couple times and always loved it, some boss places, filled with the most courteous of hosts. great to see such a strong american community for a non-sky team. It's because of this community we have been privy to all the info coming out of america, and which players will take the prem by storm.

In all seriousness the US were excellent against Portugal and deserved a win, they've done themselves proud in a tough group

What's this? I like the wind-ups better.

Be careful lads...he's trying to disarm you with his niceness and compliments.

Hell, even Jim Rome, who dislikes the sport, was acknowledging how far our team has come, though with as many shots at us not closing it out as GOTers posted.

This was a major entertainment district in Milwaukee yesterday. The photographer is standing on one side of the street, and that Jimmy John's is on the other.

incidentally, unless you are the size of Verne "Mini Me" Troyer, forget getting a kit in Tucson.

didn't like the Patriot Pop top but it's grown on me after the Ghana match. spent hours driving around on Saturday, going to Soccer shops, Sports Authorities (multiple locations), and even braving a shopping mall to visit another place. no adult kits to be found. at least USA.

you could get Brasil, Mexico, Argentina, Ingerland & Spain (neither of those two here sale priced yet)... no one could keep the USMNT gear in stock. (except for the place at the mall... they had ZERO "soccer" stuff. ZERO. And were showing the Germany match?!?! Do you NOT want to make money?)

no t-shirts, either, at any of these places.

on one hand it sucked as I went home with nothing, but on the other, smiling with a little pride.

The fact that the U.S. has never been all that good at soccer has allowed us to cheer for our team in a full-throated, hyper-patriotic, guilt-free way. But as we gain respect on the field, our overbearing presence in the stadium stops being charming. The U.S. has everything else. Can’t the rest of the world just have this? Judging by the past few weeks in Brazil, the U.S. national team and its loudest, proudest fans have this to say in response: U-S-A! U-S-A!

that line alone is a reason why many people dislike Americans, for some American patriotism stems above being proud of your country. It becomes believing you are superior. What do you have that other western countries don't this is the part that I don't understand. I've been to the USA twice and other than great food, entertainment and the ability to feed crocodiles while playing mini-golf, I struggle to see what else you have that is better than the rest? You have the highest GDP but that is because there is 300 million in the USA. Australia, Monaco, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Canada and more have a higher GDP per capita. Not making this out as if all Americans are like this as you are from it, but you seem to have far more overly ignorant people like the one who wrote this article on average than other countries.

Well to start none of those have a backbone so there's that...
