Oh no, I agree with that point. We, as a country, really do need to get out more. Hopefully association football will help with that.

Had an interesting conversation with a neighbor the other day. Two of my kids' passports needed to be renewed and I was telling him about it because it can be a ballache and he said he's never had a passport. I was really surprised. The guy is probably in his mid-to-late 40's, lives in a fairly cosmopolitan DC suburb and he's only been to Canada (when you didn't need a passport).

Milwaukeeians seem to have a good sense of humour, what do you call a collective group of people from Milwaukee?

Close, Milwaukeean.

There's a group in town (I plan to join it soon, just have been insanely busy as of late) trying to get a 2nd or 3rd division pro soccer club up and running. Hopefully there will be more interest post-World Cup for us to capitalize on.

I think you've been here long enough to enjoy this.

MKE's Brooklyn, represent!

Basically.

Don't be offended, rest of the world. I've met Californians who couldn't find my city of around a million people with both an NBA and an MLB team on a map.

I live in what is derisively called "flyover country" by those on each coast.

Milwaukee has been a hub for football for many years, long before it came into the national picture...the area schools & conferences take the game very seriously

Brian McBride's first pro club was the Milwaukee Rampage in the old A-League, which was the crap crap crap top flight league in the US before MLS came around.
