VAR

The sooner they get in automated offside as seen in the Euros and already used in La Liga the better as the angles provided aren't good enough and you're guessing too much of the time.

The bigger one for me was the potential red for Bednarek. Can anyone really be 100% sure Harwood-Bellis was getting there. If you watch the replay he's actually jogging back and then suddenly starts speeding up when Beto starts to fall. I think he should've been sent off tbh, probably would've happened at Goodison so that's a home team call.

The Prem league's own website mid Aug - not sure why it was not ready, and what the delay is

Semi-automated offside technology won’t be ready for the start of the season on 16 August, but is expected to be ready to be used from after one of the autumn international breaks.

So is this the end to VAR delays for offsides ?

No, because there will be occasions of occlusion of the ball (it being hidden from the cameras among a group of players), “edge decisions" or subjective decisions of whether an offside player was interfering with play, which will require intervention from the VAR, and possibly the on-field referee in the latter instance.

What happened to the "clear and obvious ruling" if it takes up to five or more minutes to decide, then surely it's "not clear and obvious" and the original decision by the actual referee should be upheld.
Look where Beto is when the hoof down the field is kicked at leat 2 & half yards onside - hence the linesman in line never flagged ..... they did the VAR when the ball was at is feet - which is incorrect ?

More interested in the denial of a goal scoring opportunity when Beto was pulled back.
When the foul was initiated the ‘covering defender’ was miles off the pace, by the time Beto went down arguably he could have got back and covered but without the pull back Beto was clear through and the other defender would have been nowhere, near unless he ran directly to the goal line incase the keeper was beaten, but I’m not sure that’s how it works. He defo wast getting back to make a challenge before Beto shoots.
Had that been Salah or someone from those teams I’m convinced a different outcome would have resulted.

Do have a clip of this Joey ?

They looked level to me , when the ball was played.
I just freeze framed MOTD,and still cant work out how it looks so different on different camera angles. Still looks a touch behind to me

The clip I saw he was well on side he ran from behind the two defenders when the ball was kicked level when they took the photo if it takes that long to decide the rule is the on field decision is correct evidently former Referee Mike Dean stated it's an equaliser as Beto was onside in the Sky Studio at the time of the incident & he usually backs VAR .....
