VAR

It's just not a penalty letter of the law or not. He's thrown his body, his arm isnot particularly outstretched, the reaction time is virtually zero, and he is not attempting to use his arm.

How can there not be mitigation on an incident like that.

And the ref took like 5 seconds to give it. Only after he was surrounded by half the City team. I thought that wasn't allowed anymore !!

The handball rule is an inconsistent mess, I swear a few point blank 'handball' shots like that have been dismissed this season by VAR. But this is City v Everton so no surprise the speed in which the ref then VAR gave the decision, no 3 mins checks to deliberate or the ref going to the monitor.

Then you remember the Rodri one where he literally sticks an arm deliberately to bring it under control and then after a farcical 5 mins of checking is somehow dismissed.

Yet again done over by a poor ref. He never gave the pen. Someone told him to, is this not an abuse of var? What’s the point of him being on the field if someone sitting behind a screen will give it for him? If I was Everton I would be asking for the audio to be released. Shocking in my opinion. That and I don’t think it a pen. Unreal
I think it was the lineman in his ear that made him give it.

It probably wasn't a clear error so shouldn't have been overturned.

Tbh I've given up on handballs. Nobody has the slightest idea if it should be or not. The fact that they run around with their arms in unnatural positions to avoid their arms being in 'unnatural positions' shows it's been stupid for 2-3 years.

Personally I would 100% scrap var. The technology is not good enough. The car guys aren't good enough and the refs on the pitch don't take responsibility.

Even more importantly you can't celebrate a goal properly.

Football is a shell of what it was a decade ago. Barely entertainment compared to rugby that looks and feels like a sport run and played by adults.

VAR is used to influence not just games but to ensure the Table looks as they would like.

Alongside referees, It is used to manipulate the whole outcome.
If I'm honest I believe the last world cup was completely fixed to make sure that Neymar, Messi or Mbappe would win. Qatar FC players.

It's not hard.

We know that Qatar fixed it to get the tournament. It's not at all absurd to think that they didn't throw their billions at the refs and VAR.

The serie A was famously corrupt. I think everyone thinks the British are in some way special but nobody can explain the reffing and when they do make a mistake they can't wiggle out of they just apologise.

Brighton - Spurs last season made that clear. The worst officiated match in history. Give it a watch on YouTube and the only answer is corruption.

To many wrong calls are twitsed into right decisions by VAR. ive always said it and will always stick to it, ive never liked VAR and only said last week decisons that go v us are no doubly massively outweighed by calls v us. You dont have to be a former player like some say to make VAR work, or to be a Ref for me. its common sense that is never ued

My son is a mere seven, however he plays and watches football regularly. He was at the game last night, and his words were when I showed him that tweet:

That's not a handball; that's more of a handball
When young children can see it better than officials, you know we're in a bad place. The real issue here is the laws, how they're applied and the consistency.

Right now, I watch games and I wonder what decision will be made because I actually no longer truly understand the rules of the game, whereas once it was simple.
