I think fans have short memories to an extent - I remember referee errors happening all the time before VAR and many were calling for technology to come in on that basis.

Its not the tech its how the officials are using it and how the laws are interpretated.

My recollection was goal line technology was wanted not eliminating the on field official which is what we've ended up with.

Yes I totally agree its just not necessary I don't think any football fan ever thought that is how the offside rule should work.

Plus every time we see an offside decision the process of when/where they draw the lines never look right.

I just don't see how they can't use where a strikers lead foot is planted as he makes his run and then use the defenders feet. Would be a whole lot easier to understand and implement surely?

tbh though, I'd rather VAR just be completely binned. Someone mentioned before, it's actually got worse under Webbs watch and he seems incapable of steadying the ship. I'd rather take my chances on the amount of decisions that went against us pre VAR than this weekly pile of crap as in the last 10 days alone we've had DCLs disallowed goal against Spurs, pen against City which was just an absolute farce and then last night where DCzl tickles Clyne's shin.

Quite simply. Sky sports customer base are mostly kopites, most of the refs are kopites, most of the pundits are kopites. A whole generation of people who grew up with their das supporting Rush and King Kenny now have control of most of the game and run it for the advantage of their cash paying customers.
