Have to agree with this, I wasnt happy when he came on but he done a decent job and scored a good goal. I think with all the upset of how the result went people just automatically jump on his back

You have hit the nail on the head there if we had won 2-1 I just wonder how much hatred would be on this thread about Victor??? I agree he is not in the same class as Jelly but you can not argue with his 2nd half performance v Newcastle, & nitpick, in theory he scored two goals if we played to his strengths the ball played to his feet not hoofed in the air to him on the edge of the box back to goal imo he is brilliant of being a back to goal striker - he proved that with his goal which should have been the winner the slaters on here need to look at the equaliser & the culprits in defence who cost us two vital points.
No just get on the back of a striker who at the moment goals return is better than any other EFC player as goals per minute played. Others are saying this not just me - just the usual Victor haters - I watched Bob Latchford great goalscorer /finisher etc his off the ball play was awful! but given a run in the team & supported by the fans Victor imo has something to grab us goals he has proved this last season & on his showing the other night if you do not like a forward scoring then thats strange imo!

Yeah, I mean I get why people are on his back because for five years he was terrible for us and yet kept getting chance after chance. And his attitude, and movement is frustrating, he's not as good as jelavic, he does slow us down and when he messed up when clear on goal last night I groaned as much as anyone.

But in the last eight months, he's had a great scoring record. He's become exactly what you want in a back up striker. We shouldn't be so blinded by his faults to ignore that.

My thoughts exactly mate.

Urm again a clever sarcastic swipe at Victor you forgot to mention in the five years the horrific kevin Nolan injury - why FFS can you not be fair to the young player -DM offered him a contract injuries have blighted his career. He now comes back with goals & so called fans moan??? by the way he cost us nothing he came trough the youth system believe it or not I used to hear on the teraces a certain Joe Royle get the same stick - I am an older blue I knew JR would make the grade, so lets support a player who is scoring goals for us at the moment and again give a younger player a chance & support!

You realise I was supporting Vic there, right?

Not really sorry if I misread your intentions

I stand by that he's had some terrible seasons for us but in the last eight months he's looked a player and people should get off his back. If we'd bought him in january and he'd gone onto score 8 goals in barely any pitch time, people would love him.

Its the memories of the three league goals in four years before that, that's clouding people's judgement.

Its not clouding people's judgement. He's come off the bench and scored some goals (one of which was a shot from 2 yards out and one of which was a terrible shot that bounced and took a deflection, and i think one was a header ?) that does not make him good enough. There's more to being a striker than just scoring goals.

I often criticize Vic but I thought he had a good game the other night and tried really hard.

Really well taken goal too.

I just wish he'd stop looking like he wants to pick a fight with the fans whenever he scores.

As a starter, yes. As someone you bring off the bench when you're chasing a game, no there isn't.
