Violence at the games

That's been the 'game' English lads problem, this lad is in his 50s now, the Russian lot are all early 30s or younger I'd guess at the pictures, huge lads who are trained fighters. When this lad was running round with the 6:57 I'm sure they'd have put up a fight, they're too old now and need to realise this and the young lads who follow England aren't going to help them when it does go off, more like stand waving their arms round and throwing bottles.

I don't know if he was looking for trouble, but I do know he was a lad in his day, so up to yous to make your minds up I guess.

Anyway I hope they raise the money they need to get his family out there or pay his bills whilst he can't etc.

Agreed. I'm sure he is no sweet and innocent but as you say, the fella is likely to be seriously messed up for life. I'd rather stick a tenner in than be judgemental without knowing the facts.

The younger lot out there are more interested in looking the part and getting a nice photo for FB than making a stand.

Nail on head right there in the first sentence.

I like football, not watching sweaty idiots spoil for a fight that they can't handle so they can pretend their 'hard', even though the very fact they want to fight means that they're precisely the opposite of 'hard'.
Yep, I used to think I was a bit of a lad when I was very young, until I joined the Navy and got put right in my place.
They'd all scream likes biatches if the came up aginst a Royal Marine or a Gurkha. I've always found the real hard bastards walk away from a fight if they can.

Your last line sums it up. I trained with Billy Higgins (Shotokan Karate) and a sensei called Steve Cattle. Steve Cattle was a small man who looked more like a doctor but was probably the hardest man I have ever met. Universally known by the Karate fraternity he led the Kirkdale lads to success even against the Red Triangle. Steve died a while ago, but was without doubt the one man on this planet I would not like to upset, a great fighter who epitomised the never say die ethos........

OMG I knew him, the Steve guy I mean, I used to box for Kirkdale ABC and trained in the Gordon (as it was known locally)it was on Stanley Road. He used to train the kids in there, well I was a kid myself.
When I say I knew him I don't mean personally, I mean we used to just say hello kinda thing, he said hello to everyone.
Wasn't he like a the top dan black belt 7th or 8th or whatever they call it, can't remember what number it goes up to.
I've moved away from there now so lost touch a lot, can't believe he died.
Yes, respect to him, hard as nails, but respectful and gentle with it.

He was a 6th Dan. As you say he was always respectful and indeed gentle. I watched him fight at many KUGB events and he was always a foot shorter than his opponent and always twice as fast. I was lucky to train, fight and see Karate in Liverpool at probably it's highest levels in the 70's and 80's, and Steve Cattle was just an inspiration to anyone who trained with him........

Wasn't the red triangle Terry Oneil and Dennis Martin.

Sensei Enoeda, Andy Sherry, Terry O'Neil, Billy Higgins and Bob Poynton then Jimmy and Frank Brennan, it's a proper who's who of British Karate.......

Did you ever come across Steve Morris, I know he was a southerner but they used to travel around. I know he was friendly with terry Oneil.

No Sympathy for any of the English fans getting hoofed by boris.... it's payback for decades of travelling around Europe thinking they ruled the place and destroying towns, businesses and families. And whilst I don't condone the violence at all... sorry England,, you've had it coming.

No mate, he was into the mixed martial arts stuff and Terry O'Neil was doing stuff in Hollywood with Arnold Schwarzenegger when he was doing Conan etc.......
