Regardless, I just don't want to see fighting at all.The difference in reaction between England and Russia is extremely telling. England have acted with class and dignity. Russia very much the opposite.

That's been the 'game' English lads problem, this lad is in his 50s now, the Russian lot are all early 30s or younger I'd guess at the pictures, huge lads who are trained fighters. When this lad was running round with the 6:57 I'm sure they'd have put up a fight, they're too old now and need to realise this and the young lads who follow England aren't going to help them when it does go off, more like stand waving their arms round and throwing bottles.
I don't know if he was looking for trouble, but I do know he was a lad in his day, so up to yous to make your minds up I guess.
Anyway I hope they raise the money they need to get his family out there or pay his bills whilst he can't etc.
Yep, I used to think I was a bit of a lad when I was very young, until I joined the Navy and got put right in my place.Nail on head right there in the first sentence.
I like football, not watching sweaty idiots spoil for a fight that they can't handle so they can pretend their 'hard', even though the very fact they want to fight means that they're precisely the opposite of 'hard'.

They'd all scream likes biatches if the came up aginst a Royal Marine or a Gurkha. I've always found the real hard bastards walk away from a fight if they can.
OMG I knew him, the Steve guy I mean, I used to box for Kirkdale ABC and trained in the Gordon (as it was known locally)it was on Stanley Road. He used to train the kids in there, well I was a kid myself.Your last line sums it up. I trained with Billy Higgins (Shotokan Karate) and a sensei called Steve Cattle. Steve Cattle was a small man who looked more like a doctor but was probably the hardest man I have ever met. Universally known by the Karate fraternity he led the Kirkdale lads to success even against the Red Triangle. Steve died a while ago, but was without doubt the one man on this planet I would not like to upset, a great fighter who epitomised the never say die ethos........

When I say I knew him I don't mean personally, I mean we used to just say hello kinda thing, he said hello to everyone.
Wasn't he like a the top dan black belt 7th or 8th or whatever they call it, can't remember what number it goes up to.
I've moved away from there now so lost touch a lot, can't believe he died.
Yes, respect to him, hard as nails, but respectful and gentle with it.

Wasn't the red triangle Terry Oneil and Dennis Martin.
Sensei Enoeda, Andy Sherry, Terry O'Neil, Billy Higgins and Bob Poynton then Jimmy and Frank Brennan, it's a proper who's who of British Karate.......
I think his statement is grounds for kicking Russia out in itself. The fact he says 'I don't see anything wrong with fans fighting' says a lot.
I mean, I'm no England fan, I just want to see and end to stupidity like this at all football matches, full stop.
It's not big and it's not clever.
Did you ever come across Steve Morris, I know he was a southerner but they used to travel around. I know he was friendly with terry Oneil.
