who knows his true potential

but he plays like he is prohibited from overlapping/underlapping and taking a player on 1v1

Myko actually overlapped a couple of times during the Luton game, and also created some opportunities, but it does not give us a whole lot of confidence if they do not do it consistently against higher-quality opposition.

Have stuck up for him in the past but am struggling to continue the charade. He can be decent defensively but his contribution in any attacking play is infrequent and almost always 99.9% of the time results in nothing i.e no attempt on goal because he cannot cross or pass. Could be wrong but apart from his miracle goal vs leicester 25 years ago has not scored or even has 1 assist in his entire everton career.

He was very fortunate their 3rd goal was given offside because he didn't have a clue where his man was.
That was more likely on Pickford's judgment to claim the ball, it turned out to be a better ball than expected. If anybody was to blame for that move, it was Young who allowed a cross from the edge of our box. It was also their No.9 who scored.
We always talk about how some defenders are better in a three (like Coady or Keane), but Young seems like a defender who is better in a five. If Patterson doesn't play in the interim, then I can't wait for Coleman to be back.

It’s a good question, but my guess is not everything is as clear cut as it appears.
He might have taken the position he was instructed to, he was marking someone after all. If we do zonal (which apparently we do) maybe Myko was doing his job / position and McNeil was a floater and should have been picking up anyone outside of the ‘zones’.
Could simply be a case of Myko dropping a proverbial ‘b’ but the whole set up from set pieces looks a bit off for every corner.
He was talking to the set piece taker, he then ran from the set piece over to the other side of the pitch, not a single Everton player took any notice.

I had a great view of the crime.

If people hold Keane responsible for every little thing that happens (not that none of it is warranted), then you have to do the same with Myko. This keeps happening. At the very least Keane allows you an attacking option and is dominant in the air. Other teams aren’t scoring those with Myko out of the game. He inexplicably let a man get wide open and wasn’t even in the vicinity to challenge or block.

If you leave a man open but are positioned to deal with the danger, that is a different story. He got caught playing footsies with the other Luton lad. Young has been absolutely gash as a starter as well so he deserves flak too. But there is no excusing this crap.

Some people think he’s a decent defender because he’ll make the occasional slide tackle on the touch line, but defending is about awareness and communication. This lad is absolutely shocking for both.

His best games have come when he's got to man mark the opposition winger and do nothing else. When he actually has to make defensive decisions or contribute to the attack he's always found wanting. Convinced that no matter how bad we are overall a decent player coming in and replacing him would help the balance of the team so much.

Oh so you mean most of them on that list I was struggling to get past 7 mid table players. So by your reckoning last season and this season is all on dyche?

Pickford, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, Onana, Garner, McNeil, Harrison, Danjuma, DCL at the very least get into mid table sides.

If Patterson was allowed to play as an actual full back he would as well.

As for Mykolenko whenever hes faced top class wingers more often than not he has gotten the better of them.

You’ve named 11 of our players that would get into a mid table side. We have had bottom 5 form for about 3 years now under 3 different managers.

I spot a flaw in your logic.

Count again.

Then take a look at how many of those players were regularly playing over the past 3 years.

Im spot on.
