Watches

Seriously considering this, not heard much of the brand until recently

They are very nice. Excellent cases.

Similarly I by chance looked at this watch below and thought that it looks really good and being a Casio, it can't be that expensive right?

£2300. Erm as much as I like it...that much for a casio? Does that make me a brand snob?
It’s a funny one when you think about it, £2300 on another more ‘traditional’ brand might be seen as a snip, while something like this, which is equally good if not better looking and will undoubtably be more reliable, is considered expensive due to brand snobbery.
Yet another victory for marketing over common sense!
(If £2300 on a watch can be considered common sense - look out here comes the ‘look at your phone brigade’!)
There’s maybe an argument for depreciation as I expect a casio won’t hold its value as well as some other brands I guess.

If its one of only 500 or something then I guess that's what it is!!

What makes it special?

Says in the blurb it has Bluetooth I suppose:

Introducing an exciting new colour variation of the top-of-the-line G-SHOCK, the MR-G collection. The MRG-B2000D-1A has a DLC coating on the bezel, contrasting with the silver case and band, resulting in a refined and subtle finish. This hand assembled timepiece has sapphire crystal for maximum protection and is made from titanium. Function-wise, this model is equipped with Multi Band 6 Radio Controlled reception and Bluetooth® communication capabilities for smartphone connectivity. This limited edition MR-G model incorporates ancient Japanese strength and aesthetics, combined with unmatched modern materials, structure, and functions.

And limited edition but it doesn't state what it is so it won't be that rare.

They make much cheaper ones with bluetooth, including this one called the "Full Metal" (one of my favorite watches...it just feels so solid and has a great retro look). It's about $550 USD, so a bit steep but not crazy:

Casio has basically realized that they've been sitting on an iconic watch, the G-shock, and for a long-time were content to sell them to outdoorsmen, runners, hikers, etc., but I think they realized there is a whole market of high-end collectors who would jump at a limited edition run of 500 of some type of G-shock (e.g., some of the Casioak models); so now you have all these "boutique" G-shocks, which are pretty steep in price.

If anyone has a bonafide tip for cleaning the resin strap on a G-Shock watch I’d love to hear it.
I have a circa 2000 Frogman DW-8200 ‘Men in White Grey’ with some yellowing to the white(ish) strap. Not sure if it’s purely age related and now irreversible but would love to bring it back if poss.
Bowls of dry rice / sawdust etc already tried!

Haven't googled it, but off the top of my head some car-maintance products (over here in the USA, one called Armour All) have vinyl, plastic, resin restoring cleaners.

I've actually got a gshock from around 98-99.. totally forgot. It has two straps. A cloth velcro strap then a secondary strap with a plastic clip. Got it in Costco in Canada..

I don't wear a watch.

Forgot mine at home after taking it off for a shower this AM ( watch is 200M WR but don't want to get the leather strap soaked).

It was then that I realized how much I reference it every day and how much more convenient a simple flick of the wrist is to f'in around, looking for my stupid phone. As Cinderalla 🤢 once said:

Considering what I've seen of your collection @The binman chronicles (chrono/Seiko), figured I'd be the Pusherman:

Closes eyes and sticks fingers in ears....la la la la...must not look at another watch that I don't own ever again... :D

As for pusher, that is right! You were the one that got me into the gear in the first place:

Surely at this stage I could call the police? 🤣

I do seem to like a good Seiko though given my last three purchases have all been from them.
