Watches

They are just fancy fakes. Unless your friend is living a lifestyle were it would not be unusual to wear a 60k plus watch, then everyone will know it's a fake. Fair play if he's open about it and not misleading anyone, otherwise it's a bit sad.

That's not even getting into the fact that it's a criminal offence to deal in knock offs and all that entails.

I suspect that these high price knock off Rolexes which are 1:1 and even have clones of the original movements are much harder to distinguish from the original, but at that point, why not buy a decent non-knock off watch and not worry about having a brand of watch which is more than you can, or are wiling, to pay for?
He is open to it being fake. He lives in London and there have been a spat of robberies for watches. He does have a nice collection and now wears a fake Rolex and a fake PP and keeps his real ones in the safe!

I have a couple of Rolexs that I bought many years ago. I am with you would rather but for example a CW for around that price and enjoy it.

A friend of mine has bought a super clone (insert lots of numbers). It is the PP Nautilus. I tell you what I am sure alot of people would be fooled that it is the real thing. He paid approx £600. Anyone else know anything about these super clones?
I've seen some clones. Most are awful. However the super clones can fool even jewellers and watch sellers they are that good now!

The only thing that gets me is the fact that some numpty that works in a minimum wage job is walking round with a £100k watch on!!

At least wear something that you might be able to convince people you could afford!

I saw a news article ages a go about a mega rich bloke that wears fake watches instead of his real ones to keep them safe as well!! I forget who it was now..

Was just having a quick look online.. The Tag Formula 1 with metal strap is now £1500!!

It was just £1050 2 years a go! They've lost their minds.. £1500 for a quartz watch!!
I was curious, not a Tag fan to be honest, but I could find them new at that price and under even - probably grey market.

No doubt the exact configuration that you want won't be available at the lower price as is sod's law.

Gotta pay for sponsoring formula one somehow though.

Some are extraordinary realistic.
I always wonder though, why people buy fake anything, be it watches or branded designer clothes.
Has absolutely no appeal to me, but I guess it’s just part of modern society, along with plastic surgery and all the other fake ‘aspirational’ nonsense rammed down people throats.
There are plenty of interesting watches etc at more affordable price points if people simply had the wherewithal to not be sheep shepherded by marketing.

What's the point in having the real ones if you can't wear them??

Agreed. This is how I feel. I would never buy a watch that I was too scared to wear, no matter how wealthy I was. I buy watches to wear, and I would never buy a fake Rolex or Patek (and keep the real ones in a safe), as I don't buy watches to get noticed but buy watches because I enjoy wearing and looking at them. Also, the watch-robbery stories are very overblown, and it is very possible to wear an expensive watch in [insert large city] if you are even mildly aware and careful.
