Watches

The rule used to be don't spend more than a week's earning on a watch. Seems like sensible advice on many discretionary purchases.

I just put a bid in on a 1967 Seiko. What can I say, I won't pay more than a day's earnings.
This guys watches are very popular. He modifies them to look like Rolexs which I don't think i like particularly. I bought a couple from him a few years a go before he got in to the modifying..

had some friends over for dinner.. knew the one was a Rolex man.. didn’t know the other was too… I wore my Seiko with pride!
Problem with Rolex now is the standard of Chinese clones. A friend who runs a watch outlet in Birmingham tells me some of the best can fool an AD.His wealthier clients are now going for sterile dial mods of Patek and Nardins. I've got far too many watches and usually end up wearing a G Shock rather than my Deepsea. Though still have a soft spot for the Seiko Pogue bashed about though it is. lol

Will have a look through.

Currently the bidding is at £320.00 which is my top bid. 25 minutes to go... will I get my vintage Seiko?

Didn't win it. On one had, booo, but on the other hand I won't have to explain it away to Mrs Yarrgh.

Yeah, these superclones are pretty good, but Rolex is very good about who they authorize to be an AD...I wouldn't buy a rolex on the grey market these days for fear of getting taken. But at a rolex AD, I'd have no fear.

Also, I should add that I hadn't heard of Haveston straps, but I just was looking at their stuff and they are cool. So thanks for the tip. I ordered two for a few watches that I have...doh! (damnit PayPal, you make it too easy).

How'd you like them...it was my first time buying from them as well. Been happy with mine, no fraying etc. yet after countless showers and 40+ days of 24/7 wear.

Did you buy direct? Got mine from Holbens, who've been great to buy from, so far.

Love them. Very well made and distinctive from the run-of-the-mill NATOs you find online. I ordered direct from the company as I didn't know where else to look. Will check out Holbens. Here is one that I plagiarized from you:

Great match! And nice Panny!

I've had no issues with Holbens and they have a great selection.

I'd been chasing down that particular model for awhile. When I got into this irresponsible hobby, I didn't even like Panerai, but I grew to like their distinctive design, but couldn't wear their usual 44mm cases. Then I discovered they made a few 40mm models, and when I saw the limited edition titanium w/blue steel dial they released in 2008, I was smitten. So I tracked it down and traded/sold a few watches for a used one.
