Quite a nice collection! Rolex is an amazing company and they are one of the few companies where their watches will, on balance, go up in price. I had the 50th anniversary black dial/green bezel submariner that I bought back in 2002 for about 4.5K...It now lists at up to 28K. (I sold it ages ago...silly me!)Currently have a 16610 Submariner Date, GShock DW-8200LG-8JR Frogman ‘Men in White/Grey’, SS Apple Watch Series 6 and the latest and greatest, a SS Skydweller with black dial on a jubilee bracelet that took 4 years on a waiting list to get.
Whatever anyone thoughts are on Rolex, stainless steel ones are undeniably great investments if bought new.
That’s the thing, they can only be considered an ‘investment’ if you are prepared to let them go!Quite a nice collection! I had pretty much given up hope with the Skydweller and didn’t think the AD had actually put me on the list, so when I got the call the other month it was a real surprise. Not really what my bank balance needed, but seeing the resale value I couldn’t refuse it….. now I want to keep it!
I paid about £2300 for the sub back in 1992 (iirc) and they’re going for near 4x that now with papers & box etc….
The 50th ‘Kermit’ is a lovely colour combo.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if you like it, £109 for an automatic watch is probably value. However there’s plenty of reviews on YouTube for this brand and the consensus seems to be you get what you pay for. (Nb the also seem a bit notorious for stating outlandish list prices for some models only to sell them at hugely discounted prices…. Bit like that one I guess only some have 4 figure starting prices.Lovely looking watch I think! But is it just cheap?

Think ditching the Arabic numerals for batons made a bit difference in decluttering the dial, albeit I did like the previous ones, problem being the precious metal ones are way out of my price range!I wasn't very excited about the skydweller when it was released in an aesthetic sense (though it's technical complications are very impressive), but I've since warmed up to it. And if I were to ever have the chance of owning one, the model you have is exactly the one I'd choose...it's the best combo by far!
Really need to get a winder…. The size difference between the Sub and the SD isn’t as apparent on the wrist, one being 40mm and the other 42mm.
Used to think 40mm was quite big but after wearing an Apple Watch 95% of the time neither look particularly large now and the Frogman is a another size up again!
