Wayne Rooney

He had his chance to run down his deal...

He's past it lads. Well past it. He was always going to peak sooner. 12 league goals in total last season, 2 this season. In a Man Utd side.

We're never going to compete at the top if we look backwards.

Look to the future. I'd much sooner have Lukaku up front, with Barkley behind him.

If/when Lukaku goes, go for the next player ready to make his career. Not a lad winding down on his retirement.

Agreed. He had his chance 2 years ago to run down his contract if he wanted to return back to Everton. He chose a massive pay raise instead. Cant blame him for that, but we just dont have the finances to be able to get him in a transfer AND pay his wages. Really had to be one/other, which is really only 1.

Yes but just imagine him playing instead of Kone and feeding Luk. As Moxley points out, having Rooney back here may just send a message to the young lads like Stones that EFC could, just could, make it to the top 4

interesting article in the paper but just pure fiction. Rooney will not figure in an Everton shirt again. We cannot afford his wages or what would be his transfer fee from Man U . far better if we have loot to splash go after Butland.

Have a look his Redcafe thread,

Most of them would probably be prepared to waive any transfer fee and even supplement some of his wages just to get rid of him.

Whether his club would do that or if taking such an out of form player would be a good idea for Everton are two different things mind.

Rubbish player, has always been over-hyped, never really had the dribbling ability or the close control to be the absolute top class center forward, never even had the imagination to be a classy playmaker.

This all chestnut, sigh.

Its not going to happen, if it did it would have to be a nominal fee and a wage in keeping with the rest of our squad, but truth be told hes on a rapid decline

I thought Rooney may run down his contract and join us for free but it never happened. Maybe he realised that the media would have attempted to destroy him if he did that. He needs a new focus and I don't see why that couldn't be with us but needs to do it this year or forget it.
