I'm surprised at Koeman. I'd have thought taking Rooney on board would be retrograde. It's going to happen. Koeman and walsh are keen
I am struggling to understand how people think Rooney will transform us into some sort of title-challenging side? Do people seriously believe he will have the ability to improve those around him, when he's barely able to sprint any more and has long since lost his striker's instinct? Would any other side in the league massively break their wage structure to get a player way past his best in? United signed Ibra who was clearly still world class, and even he is earning less than Rooney. Why on earth would we want to make him our highest paid player when he's no better than Barkley, who currently occupies the role he'd look to take? This one would leave me incredulous. He's finished, let him go and steal a wage in the States or China, but not from us.
He can do a job, much like Williams has done a job this season. It's distinctly short term but it raises our profile and no one can convince me otherwise that Rooney can't play for half an hour and put away a chance.
Many many people were doubting Zlatan, even early on in the season he was getting loads of stick. He is still good but nowhere near as good as he was.
Same affect Rooney would have for us.
Lukaku out Rooney in then?
No thanks!
