Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Our problem is outside of Rom we have no 2nd regular scorer. Outside of the top 4 sides you look at the 3 clubs that have had big seasons and both have 2 or more players who can score 15-20 goals between them:

Liverpool- Suarez and Sturridge
Leicester- Vardy and Mahrez
Spurs- Kane and Eriksen/Alli combined.

Rooney isn't a goalscorer anymore and if he was to take lookmans place in the side we would need the team as a whole to contribute more goals- something we have shown to be unable to do outside of Rom for around 2/3 seasons now.
LOLZ...........I have nothing further to add to a post that glorifies Toothy !!

He was slightly younger but signing Andy Gray, who was viewed as past it, was one of the most astute signings we ever made. Rooney would obviously bring something to the team, but would also be fantastic for raising our profile and commercial sales. We could probably even get someone to sponsor him to pay his wages.....it's a no brainer....
This is what happens now with him. Think Utd only pay 100 odd grand a week and the rest of the 300k comes from sponsors. Usually these sponsorship's are taken by the club but he negotiated keeping his own for this contract.

for the right price/deal, I'd deffo have him back. He's still got a lot to offer as a player, can instil a winning attitude in the dressing room and if we get the europa next season (and do better in the domestic cups) we will need more players and more options. I'm in.

Howard Kendall was villified for signing Andy Gray (too old and a crock) as had been mentioned earlier), he was also slaughtered for signing Peter Reid (a crock) Paul Power (too old) etc. It may be the old age / rose tinted glasses, but i seem to recall those guys did quite well?

I dont know if Wayne will do it for us should he come back, but to write someone off on the basis of age is ludicrous when we've have people like Pirlo and Giggs putting in such great performances when they were deemed past it? If we get him, and he has something left, Koeman will, play himand we will, all benefit? If we get him and he has nothing left, Koeman will not play him, so no real harm done? If we actually get him, well...
